What is up with those ugly librarian glasses women are wearing these days?
Mary Nerd Photoshoot Salt Lake 27 bw

Every male acquaintance and friend I have spoken to have agreed that these librarian glasses are ridiculous and are detrimental to anyones looks. Not one male I have spoken to find these to be attractive so why wear them unless you are a librarian or are reading a book.

That is a matter of opinion. I know of many guys who find those glasses attractive. Women find them attractive as well, otherwise we wouldn't wear them. Perhaps one of the reasons they're so popular is because of the popularity of Tina Fey and Sarah Palin. Surely you don't think Tina Fey is unattractive?

glasses ????????????????????????
Mary Nerd Photoshoot Salt Lake 30

hey folks,
i have previously asked about bifocal lenses for Reading ( like the large part of the lens being just clear glass and the little section in the bottom being my reading prescription). My mum has went and asked at my local optician and the woman there (who isn't an optician) said that it not recommended to someone of my age ( im 14, nearly 15)

so i was wondering, is there any reason why i CANT get these bi focal Lens 'cause i keep losing my normal reading glasses so i thought id be best i was to be wearing glasses at all time, and id also like them as a fashion accessory.

Bifocals are usually recommended for those people who are around 40 years of age. This is because at around this age, we all start losing the ability to focus up close (a condition called presbyopia in which the lens inside of our eye can no longer focus).
There are a few reasons why bifocals aren't recommended to those who just need a prescription for reading.
1. They are more expensive.
2. They are hard to get used to. It is difficult at first to move just your eyes, not your head, when switching focus from far (the top part of the lens) to near (the bottom part of the lens).
3. Most people do not think they are appealing.

An eye doctor must write a prescription for bifocals, and he may not see it in your best interest.

Looking for reading glasses with clear upper and 2+ magnifyer lower lens.?
Mary Nerd Photoshoot Salt Lake 31

We need help finding bifocal reading glasses with the following characteristics:
1. Cost no more than $40
2. Clear upper and 2+ lower lenses
3. Lower bifocal must extend the full width of the lens (Franklin style)
4. Not sunglasses, not aviator style, or anything outrageous looking.
5. Need small-to-medium front width (or women's style).

  • Chapter 2 – The Initiation « Bayou Woman

Coastal Welding’s office in Houma, LA, where I was to sign up for the roustabout position, was dinghy, with walls the color of cigarette smoke.  Decked out in my painter’s pants, chambray work shirt, and steel-toed boots, the industrial feel of the place fueled my enthusiasm.  Behind the desk sat a very short, rather pudgy, middle-aged woman, Miss P., who gave me the twice-over, her eyes like brown buttons bobbing on threads behind her reading glasses.

“Do you have any idea what you are doing?  I mean, are you sure you want to do this?” she asked me, reluctantly.

“Yes ma’am.  I’m sure.  What could be so bad?” I replied, bright eyed and bushy tailed.

She shook her head with uncertainty as she handed me her pen and showed me where to sign. This exercise in futility was lost on me.  I was bound for the unknown world of seven and seven, and those boots were the only thing keeping my feet on the ground.  No way this woman was going to burst my balloon before it even had the chance to fly high.  Even her laughing at me for not knowing the way to Dulac could not bring me down.
