Wearing Sunglasses?

While watching TV, does wearing sunglasses protect your eyes from the TV? Does it protect you eyes from the computer? etc.

Hello there! Sunglasses have a dark tint and UV protection. UV rays occur naturally in sunlight. UV rays are not emitted from computer or TV screens. So wearing sunglasses for those activities would not benefit you at all. The tint wouldn't help either because it just shades your eyes from bright light. Which inside would make it difficult for you to see. If you wore regular glasses with an antireflection coating would that would help reduce the glare from computer/TV screens. Other then that you do not need to worry about permanently damaging your eyes from watching TV or being on the computer. :)

What do the Japanese think of wearing sunglasses?

I am Asian, yet I always wear sunglasses whenever the sun is out because I can barely open my eyes when it is so bright. I noticed that the Japanese people do not wear sunglasses even though the sun is bright. Is there a bad connotation with sunglasses there? Do they look bad at me for wearing sunglasses?

Not that I'm aware of, no.

Does wearing sunglasses while you're on the computer protect your eyes from harmful radiation?

I heard that computers have radiation and ruin your vision. My eyes are actually worsening in terms of vision and I want to know if wearing sunglasses will help protect that.

Actually, it is quite silly to think there is some dangerous radiation coming from a monitor.

Don'y you think monitors would come with special goggles and big warnings if there was ?

How do you prevent the marks you get on your nose from wearing sunglasses?

Aside from not wearing them of course. And are there certain kinds of sunglasses that don't cause them at all?

um you need to get better fitted sunglasses- the marks mean they are too tight or too small for your head

Wearing sunglasses while at the computer?

I have heard that wearing sunglasses while looking at the computer screen can help with dark circles under the eyes or strained eyesight...Is there any merit to this?

Has nothing to do with dark circles,Do not need dark glasses.Turn down brightness and contrast. Not do not work in room with out some other kind of light on in room.Don't stare at screen for long times.take a break with your eyes and look away at something else to relieve eye strain.

  • Darkness Clouds Moral Compass | Psych Central News

Shows that darkness does induce a psychological feeling of secrecy or mystery, and a window for amoral behavior.

For example, just as children playing “hide and seek” will close their eyes and believe that others cannot see them, the experience of darkness, even one as subtle as wearing a pair of sunglasses, triggers the belief that we are safe from others’ attention and inspections.

Psychological scientists Chen-Bo Zhong, Vanessa K. Bohns (both of University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management), and Francesca Gino (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) conducted three experiments to test whether darkness can license dishonest and self-interested behaviors.

In the first experiment, participants were placed in a dimly- or well-lit room and received a brown envelope that contained $10 along with one empty white envelope. They were then asked to complete a worksheet with 20 matrices, each consisting of 12 three-digit numbers. The participants had five minutes to find two numbers in each matrix that added up to 10.
