Sunglasses Lenses

I read an article a few years that certain colored sunglasses lenses were bad for your eyes because of the way the color interacts with the sunlight that hurts your eyes.

I can't remember what the "bad" colors were (green, yellow, blue, etc). Does anyone know or know where I can get the information? I tried googling but nothing came up. Thanks!

It's hard to say that these colored sunglasses lenses are bad for your eyes as each of them has own effect in different situation.
Choose a brown lens for fishing or sailing.
Choose a pale yellow lens for activities during low-light periods - dawn and dusk.
Choose a mirrored lens on sunny days for solar and snow glare protection.
Choose a gold-colored lens as an all-around versatile lens capable of providing contrast in most condition
Choose a rose-colored lens for increased definition and contrast in low-light and flat-light situations.
Choose a clear lens for activities such as night skiing or biking.

I am a fastpitch softball player, and I need a good pair of sunglasses. The ones that I have now are good, but basic. The ball is like bright, fluorescent yellow. I see that some glasses have blue, or yellow-orange lenses. Which color would be best to block out other distractions and highlight the ball?
(Some blue lenses can help you see golf balls, so something like that)

I have this perfect pair of sunglasses that would perfect as those "Nerd Glasses" but they have a tint on the lenses. I really want to know a way to get rid or lighten it.

I have astigmatism and need progressive bifocals. Can they put them in oakleys? The oakleys I want are flak jacket xlj. Is there a place where i can take the sunglasses and they make sunglass lenses to fit inside of them?

Most opticians should be able to reglaze them for you with a prescription varifocal or bifocal. The only thing you will need to get them to assess if the curvature of the frame and lenses. Sometimes with wrap around sunglasses, there is no way to glaze a prescription lens in as the optics let us down.

Best advice would be to take it to your optician to have a look at it

I'm getting Oakley flak jacket XLJ sunglasses. But im not getting the polarized lenses with them. I wanted to know around the cheapest way i could get polarized lenses and put my prescription in them. I've gone to walmart and they said they could do it for $100. Is their any other way i could do it for less than 100?

Well when our office sold Oakley glasses, ONLY Oakley was allowed to put an Rx in their frames. But I don't know of any optical business that sells a QUALITY polarized lens for under a $100. Don't skimp on your eyes, they're the only pair you have.
