Sabre Sunglasses

I am joining the color and winter guard at my high school next year and the coach said it's better if you buy your own equipment. The thing is I really want some new sunglasses and the ones i want are $180, all the equipment(flag, rifle, sabre, etc.) comes up to less than that. What do u think I should buy? I'm leaning towards the equipment.

I was in Winter Guard, and even though the equipment was supplied to us, it sounds like in your situation you should invest in buying your own. Best thing is, its easier to sell your sabre and rifles to someone for another season, or even over eBay. I know the sunglasses might be important to you, but I say wait it out, and buy what you need most.

I've tried getting sprayed by regular pepper spray before a long time ago when they first started to get popular and it didn't do much to me (as long as I squinted my eyes).
Then a friend of mine let me try something in a black bottle (I think it was FOX or Sabre) that had CS tear gas mixed into it.
Just a little bit of that on my hand burned like crazy and the fumes burned my eyes a little even though it was a little squirt on my hand.
It was a foam spray. But I'm guessing that the same formula in regular spray or gel would be just as potent.
Until then I have had little respect for pepper spray and have discouraged female friends from relying on it.
But this pepper spray with CS would put me down any day even if I was wearing sunglasses.

I'm wondering if it was the CS that made it so effective or the OC formula.

Could someone with more experience with pepper spray please guide me to what brand/model would be as potent as the one described above?

Hello Max. It sounds like you were trying some civilian type pepper sprays, which for the most part are weak and ineffective. The brand most departments ( mine included) carry is Def Tech ( Defense Technologies) OC Pepper. It is an oil base derivative ( versus the water based that you have tried).

Pepper sprays are rated at SHU's. (Scoville Heat Units), which is a method of determining what the effect is on a person. Sabre spray is rated ( as I recall from memory) at 12000 SHU. Def Tech OC is rated at 25000 SHU.

Our state police ( in Ohio ) started carrying a second backup spray to be used only if and when OC doesnt have the desired effect. It is called Phase IV. It was originally designed to repel grizzly bears ( how would you like to be the person to test this one? ) and is rated at 2,000,000 SHU. (Yes, that is two million ). Using Phase IV requires medical treatment afterwards as it creates a minimum of 2nd degree burns.

These are law enforcement and correctional department restricted items, but they are definetely the best.

Being sarcastic and stating unusual thoughts and ideas that you hold doesn't make you strange. It makes me think you want to be seen as different and would like to compare your self to the other 'average people' when you receive comments that strengthen your idea of strangeness in encourages you to become more and more different from society. But really you can't pull your own strings and choose differently from others. Because of the simple fact that you are playing the game. The only game. The game where every time you play you the player think is in control. But the game is just playing you. Creating a realistic image which seems manipulable when playing the game. How do you beat the game? There is no way to beat the game every time you think whether it's normal or strange you play it and in the end you lose the game.
