Expensive good pair of sunglasses with no UV protection reading?
DSC_0011

I bought a good pair of sunglasses with no UV protection reading at a optic store. I was wondering if that means it has no UV filter?

And should I continue to wear sunglasses even if they don't have UV filter? Will that damage my eyes?

yes beacause the glasses will incrase the power of uv light

Do the cheap sunglasses and reading glasses in shops damage your eyes?
The ground under her feet

I've seen many people buy them from places like discount department stores and $2 shops. I heard people saying things like they can damage your eyes.

How is that possible? Are the lenses on them dodgy? Just curious!

If they don't do damage or any harm, then why are the ones people order from their optometrists so expensive?

Sunglasses would not damage your eyes, but they may not offer the same protection as a better pair. They will usually have a sticker on them to tell you that they are UVA and UVB protected. I think most of them are, even the five dollar ones. The problem with them is they are cheap and break easily.

If you are referring to prescription eyeglasses made at a discount store optical department, they are held to the same standard as every other high-end optical shop in the country.

The reading glasses off the shelf are for people with presbyopia, usually older people who only wear them to read. If you wear glasses for distance, the odds of your prescription being available off the shelf is probably about one in a million. They would definitely give you a headache, but I don't know about long term wear. I don't think you could tolerate them long enough to damage your eyes.

Sunlight is incident on both pairs of sunglasses and reading glasses, which will be warmer?
Book Buch Sunglasses Sonnenbrillen Leisure Time Freetime

Best answer gets 10. Thanks!!

Sunglasses will be warmer due to the dark colored lenses. Dark objects will always absorb more energy.

Suppose that sunlight is incident upon a pair of reading glasses and a pair of sunglasses.?
Book Buch Sunglasses Sonnenbrillen Leisure Time Freetime

Which pair would you expect to be warmer, and why?

The sunglasses absorb light and heat while the reading glasses absorb none or very little. So the sunglasses are warmer.
Yes, they're both at thermal equilibrium, but the equilibrium temperature for the sunglasses is higher. Both at thermal equilibrium doesn't mean equal temperatures; it means that for each, heat in = heat out. When heat in increases, equilibrium requires a larger temperature difference between the glasses and the surroundings to increase heat out.

  • Borghese expands into eyeware with licensing deal

Borghese manufacturers and markets high-end skin care and fragrance products, and has taken the unusual decision to put its name to spectacles.

The license has been brokered by IMCLicensing, a specialist in consumer goods licensing arrangements, which has drawn up the agreement as well as formally registering it, giving the go ahead for product development, marketing and subsequent trading.

    Reading glasses and sunglasses

Icon Eyeware is planning to market a range of reading glasses, sunglasses and eyeware accessories using the Borghese name, and the range will be made available in department stores, specialty stores and boutiques shortly.

The launch program has already begun with the unveiling of a new line of reading glasses, which the two companies say will be developed and further expanded on a seasonal basis.

“The Borghese of today is both active and interactive,” said Neil Petrocelli, VP of sales and marketing for Borghese.
