My husband is a Marine, currently working in the garrison environment. Well, hes not exactly sure on the order for sunglasses other than:
"5. Articles that may be worn while in uniform include inconspicuous wristwatches and rings. Sunglasses may be worn on leave, liberty, and in garrison but not in formation with troops, unless the need to wear sunglasses has been certified by medical authorities. When authorized for wear in formations, sunglass lenses will be of standard green or dark green shade or may be the type commonly referred to as "photosensitive." Sunglasses that do not have "photosensitive" lenses will not be worn indoors. Eyeglasses/sunglasses, when worn, will be conservative in appearance. Eccentric or conspicuous eyepieces are prohibited. Chains, bands, or ribbons will not be attached to eyeglasses; however, eyeglass restraints are authorized for safety purposes, but must be of conservative style/design."
well he has a pair of Oakleys, and they are brown framed with amber lenses, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing eccentric. But i was wondering if they are able to be worn with the uniform.
Can anyone point us in the right way? Do the frames and lenses have to be black?
You are always safe with black frames and standard-colored lenses. Amber may be a bit too light. Brown frames would be as light as I would be willing to go. Certainly not "any color" as the previous poster wrote (at least not in the Corps).
Your direct command can give better guidance. If he is told he cannot wear them, then he can either just change sunglasses or can appeal that persons ruling. (The article leave room for interpretation. Amber color may be conservative to some/ not to others.) If you posted a link to a pic of his glasses, we might be able to provide better suggestions.

I have 3 dreams that have bothered me of late, 2 of which I have had in the past 24 hours, the other is a recurring dream ending. I do not know if it will help but I will tell you that I am in the USMC as an infantry rifleman. My ceiling tiles will tend to move throughout the day for an unexplainable reason. They will lift up a couple inches and come back down. I also have strange feelings of being watched from a dark corner in my room at different parts throughout the day. I live in a barraks room with 2 roommates.
Dream 1: Recurring Ending.
This ending that I have to some dreams. I usually only have it once a year or so(I think sleep paralysis) but lately it has been more often once a week.
Whatever dream I am having at the time ends and I am laying in my bed about to wake up. I open my eyes and begin my day to notice that my ceiling tiles begin to move and I look up at them. I feel someone or something looking at me from the darkness and get out of the room as quickly as possible. Then I open my eyes again and realize that I am still in bed. This time I run out of my room as fast as I can. I hear a crash and open the door to realize that the room looks like a hurricane gust rushed through it. I stick my head in the door and look above me to see a light falls on my head and everything goes black. I open my eyes again to notice that I am still in bed. This time I get out of my bed shaking trying to talk but can't. What I am trying to do is pray, as I stare down whatever is looking back at me. Usually say something along the lines of "God there is somehting not right here please help me. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen." Usually I wake up again and have to do it one more time. After the last time I will wake up startled and left questioning what happened.
I attribute it to sleep paralysis but after dream 3 I'm not sure.
Dream 2: The War 05FEB09
I had this dream after a duty recovery sleep at around 1300 today.
Dream takes place in a desert, like the sahara, it is hot, open field, fine sand that make hills. The dream is a war. Not sure who we are fighting though. Sometimes I can see it from an omniscent perspective and sometimes it is first person. Not too many details to this except for 2 of my personal friends dying. Not sure who but I know it was 2.The other interesting thing about this dream is that as we were killing the last of our enemy by encircling them in a half circle and laying down a wall of lead. I find a baby. I do not know who the child belongs to but I hear it crying. As my fellow Marines are finishing the assult by killing the last couple guys I grab the baby and put it into a jeep and drive back towards safety where there are no bullets to harm the baby. The only details I can remember about the baby is that it was about maybe 3-9 months old. After this I am somehow back home with my mom sitting on the couch. I believe I told her the story of the war and began to tear at the thought of my fallen brothers. My mother simply looks at me and tells me "Why are you so emotional about this? It was only a video game."
Then I woke up. It boggles my mind. Any ideas?
Dream 3: Armory Robot Death 06FEB09 @ 0330
Had this one tonight. The ending is what prompted me to ask my question.
Begining I don't see as important so it lacks details but I will fill you in...
My friend and I are in this giant cavern made of metal and rock. Blueish gray is the color of everything around me. Robots come out of nowhere and attack us. We take weapons and destroy them. This takes a while and is quite fun. Using vehicles as well... This is the second part.... After we destroy the robots I head back to the entrance of the cavern/armory place and use this computer attached to the wall. I hear a buzzing sound and my friend yells out to me that someone is trying to come in. I look next to me at three sets of glass doors that lead to the outside. You have to go through each in order to get into the armory(I found it strange an armory has glass doors). The doors are foggy as if it was raining outside. I open the set closest to the inside to find that there are 5 people that are an thier way through the second set, 3 men and 2 women. At this point in time I am begining to feel something strange inside of me. I help them get inside and the three men disappear into the armory hallway shadows before I can stop them. The women try to go but I yell at them to stop because they have to sign a logbook that is beneath the wall computer. I know the men stopped as well. Although I cannot see them I know they are lurking in the shadows waiting for the women. As they get the book I lean on the wall because I begin to feel strange. I watch to make sure they are filling out the book properly. Both women A and woman B look like younger versions of two people I know. Only by a couple of years though. Woman B comments to woman A about how rude I am and she agrees. Then she asks me i
Everyone sees the ceiling tiles move.
wow! i honestly just kind of skimmed through your letter, but i;m suspecting deep inside you're just troubled. the first dream, sounds like a normal demon attack, they happen mostly at 3 am, so before you fall asleep, plead that the blood of jesus christ be shed on you.
dream #2 we dream strange things when we are under alot of stress, and your being a marine can probabaly account for that. my brothers were marines. anyway, you mention you were killing the last enemy and then you found the baby, who of course is innocent regardless of his surroundings. maybe, deep inside you feel that not all the enemies are bad people? perhaps just victims of circumstance. your mother came in to tell you don't let it get to you.
dream#3 that one really seems like a video game, and yet...maybe it was a deep part of you saying once again, don't let things get to you, be nice to people regardless of the stress you're under. anyway, i hope i helped a little. thanks for fighting for our country.

Marjah shows war rarely fought to plan - MarineCorpsTimes.com
BADULA QULP, Afghanistan — The intelligence said a Taliban commander planned to dispatch a suicide bomber against an American patrol base. But where? Would more than one attacker strike? What day and time? On foot, or in a vehicle that would pack more explosives?
The attack didn’t happen as predicted last week in a farming area where Army units are supporting a Marine offensive against insurgents in Marjah in southern Afghanistan.
Could it happen later? Uncertainty is a certainty of war. As generals over the centuries have noted, no matter how much soldiers plan and try to impose order on the battlefield, reality rarely matches.
Over the past week, men belonging to the 5th Stryker Brigade and Afghan forces have swept through villages and compounds once held by Taliban fighters, advancing with painstaking caution to avoid casualties from booby traps and harassing fire.
In the military’s innocuous-sounding jargon, the soldiers have cleared “objectives” and had “contact,” which really means vicious firefights. They “engaged the enemy” and “possibly destroyed” snipers. The Taliban rarely leave their dead, if they are, in fact, dead.
