the major difference between laminated and tempered glass is this... laminated glass is two pieces of glass stuck together with an adhesive that keeps the glass in one piece if it is broken. Tempered glass is onethick piece of glass that has been heated so it will break into little squares when broken. I worked in a glass factory, tempered glass blows up when broken, it is extremely hard to do though. It is really your choice as to the one you pick unless the glass on the window is lower than 36" to the ground then you might need tempered to meet code.sorry so long of an answer
