Do you think safety glasses should be worn when handling snakes?
Corey with Crossbow glasses front view head only

As most of us know, whenever there is a mishap involving a snake and a human, the snake usually gets the blame for being the villain. As a rule, we all know that snakes should not be handled close to your face. Do you feel that inexperianced young kids just starting out in hobby should wear saftey glasses till they become better skilled at snake handling?... Do you think that any regular snake handling should envolve the use of protective eyewear either as a precaution or, just in special situations that would pertain to certain species of snakes?

i own two ball pythons, both are very docile snakes. and i've had them around young childern without a problem, and i've had them in and around crowds without a problem.

It truly depends on the snakes disposition, and if it is a poisonous snake. If you know the snake has a "bad disposition" then yes, take all the nesscary precautions, wear safety goggles and handle it with care. with poisonous snakes, only a trained professional should handle them.

As far as young childern and snakes? it would depend on both the child's age, and the breed of snake. you have to ask yourself, is he/she old enough to properly handle a snake? to care for it? With ball pythons, my daughter had her first snake at ten, and takes care of him on a daily basis, with me there guiding her if she had a question or concern. As it should be with any child and their first pet, wether it be a snake, dog, cat or any animal. they need to know how to care and handle the animal before taking on the responsibilty for one.

As to special situations, you need to know that the child, or even adult is alright with holding the snake in the first place. If they seem afraid to hold the snake, keep the snake about your neck or on your arm, and turn so the snakes head is away from them, and ask them if they'd like to gently touch the snake. i've done this many times and have had no problem with the method.

in short, with all animals it's always best to use common sense anytime young childern are involved.

Why do I have to put my kid in a safety seat,?
Gearing up for the Maiden Voyage

secure myself with a seat belt, have a car with air bags, safety glass, collapsable steering column, etc. And still pay outrageous insurance premimums, even though I have never been at fault in an accident. But people with motorcycles get to drive around with no helmets, no safety clothing requirements, loud pipes, and their insurance is nowhere near what I pay. I think their insurance should be ten times what a car owner pays. What do you think?

Because of more and more socialism and big brother watching and dictating our every move. You make a valid point. I tend to agree with you.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Watch out if a liberal socialist like obammamamma is elected

Sometimes I look at George W (always with safety glasses on) and I see a tired older man who can no longer?
Franciscocardweb

play the game (or at least pretend to play the game which is all he ever did). Honestly he doesn't look well--he looks tired and drawn....Sure he's an idiot..but watch his body language...it's almost defeated...And I'm not so certain that he's learned how to read his speeches correctly yet. He really looks like a candidate for a major health crisis..I'm not kidding. Does anyone else notice this?

Yes, I noticed this too. I also noticed years ago, the night of the first rigged election, that he looked scared to death. To me he really looked like he was hoping things would not focus on him. And that is how he looks today. Clearly he has never been up to the job, nor has he been particularly interested in the job.

I can agree with your Republican-favoring (or maybe impartial) answerers above, that a job like this will take a heavy toll on anyone. And I can understand his defenders' sensitivity, if they perceive some of the answers here to be demeaning. However, no matter why anyone's sensitivities lead them to defend this person called the President of the United States, no rational person can deny the astounding fact that he is completely incompetent. Even if George W. Bush had handled everything with some kind of Blair-flair, he is still grossly incompetent and ought to be fired.

One wonders what will be named after him. Probably Pepperdine University will get a name change in his honor. That would be appropriate. Or some bridge between Mexico and Texas, just for a nice little ironic twist.

Teaching Kids about guns?
RudyProject01-05-1

A summer camp has contacted me about teaching kids how to use air rifles. Safety, responsibility, respect and concentration are all valuable lessons to be learned.
The kids will be 14-17. They will be on public assistance or working poor. They will be white, black and hispanic, probably some other ethnicities as well, but no distinct majority. They will be from a small city that has seen better days.
I have a budget of $500 for equipment and $250 for supplies, maybe a little more.
First and foremost, I was thinking a way to secure the guns. They have lockers, but I'd also add gun locks.

We'll have 3 traps so three shooters can shoot at once:

What do you think? The program has to be focused on safety, responsibility and marksmanship.
Thanks for your input.

Good idea. Interesting choices for guns, I like the variety. The age level is good. Younger kids at the camp? This gives them the incentive to return, as most boys and many girls will be HIGHLY interested in the program. Have the camp sort out the trouble makers from the good kids, so you don't have any wise guys in your program. Another incentive to be good and participate. Good people participate in life and life can be fun, like target shooting. Bad people sit it out behind bars. No work and no fun.
These are probably the kids both liberals and conservatives will write off as losers. Perfect candidates for gangs, who will certainly teach them the WRONG info about guns.

I'm and an intermediate 13yr-old airsofter, are there any fields that welcome my kind. Fields near Chicago,IL?
ESS Crossbow safety glasses side of box

I wanna know if its inexpensive, with other kids that join so I don't feel lonely, and if I have all the proper equipment.- Safety Glasses,G22, JG MP5, DE .44, Gloves, and other nice thick clothing that feels light in summer that provides adequate protection from bbs.

  • Safety & Awareness Tips On Holiday Dangers - Hey Kids &quot ...

Safety abroad since the abduction of Madeleine McCann, who was snatched from her holiday apartment May 3rd 2007 in Portugal as she slept. Well this certainly gave parents a wake up call on the importance of keeping check on their children`s whereabouts at all times, whether in a foreign country or their home town. However families have not been deterred from jetting off in to the sun. If you are an overprotective parent you still need to let the children breathe, wrapping them up in cotton wool is the not the way. It is natural to protect, but too molly coddle is not the answer because it can spoil the holiday for you, and the kids.

Unnecessary panic can stress you out and sadden the kids even though you mean well. Let the kids have fun, none of "Hey kids look at the ocean but you can not swim in it". Point out the dangers beforehand which cause harm; this will give your child every chance to avoid any disastrous moments from happening. Keeping your child safe while on a summer vacation can involve many factors which you as the parent and child need to be aware of.
