Question #1 is a trick question. An uncovered pail cannot explode.
Had an old pair of safety-glasses. Testing to see if they would stop a Pellet fired from a Co2 air-gun at 400 FPS. I am using a Beretta Px4 Storm ...
I know the answer to that but I mean in relation to motorcycle safety. My car needs front and rear impact bumbers, steel re-inforced side beams, lap and shoulder belts, front and side air bags, safety glass etc. And a child needs to be in a booster seat until they're 80 or 90 lbs. Yet a motorcycle has no built in safety devices (aside from the operator), you don't need to wear a helmet (some states) and you can just strap your kid onto the back and say "hang on".
Without getting into an argument over bad drivers/cyclists, can someone explain this to me?
- The question isn't about why cars have air bags (read the first line) it's why are'nt motorcycles subject to the same department of transportation and government safety guidelines!
When you drive a motorcycle then you have to get a special license and take a special class. By doing this you have effectively signed a release form saying that if anything bad happens to you then nobody, but you is responsible for the lack of safety equipment on that motorcycle.
If you drive a motorcycle you take your life in your own hands. Since it was once legal to drive them and people owned them the DMV is reluctant to make them illegal. They try to make sure that people know how to drive motorcycles and are as safe as possible, but that is the limit to what they can do.
Tom Cruise likes to ride his motorcycle, however he can't do it when he is making a motion picture. The motion picture company's insurance company considers that to be too dangerous. If Tom Cruise is in an accident and production shuts down then that can cost millions of dollars a day. The insurance company will not pay for that, so they demand that Mr. Cruise's contact, for the movie roll, says that he cannot ride his motorcycle while he is filming the movie. He did anyway. This is also why movie companies don’t like their big stars trying to do their own stunts, which Mr. Cruise also does.
Recently, an American Football star was driving his motorcycle, during the summer, before the season began. He was riding without a helmet and had an accident. He messed up his leg and was put into the hospital. When the football team that had his contract found out about this there was a big worry that they would kick him off the team for doing that. He was doing something considered very dangerous and his professional football team could have canceled his contract for it. He got better, and was able to play that season so the team didn't cancel his contract, but you can bet they told him to get rid of that motorcycle or they would cancel his contract.

Hello I am a junior chemistry major (currently in Organic Chemistry II and Physical Chemistry II) and also have worked at an Analytical Chemistry Lab for 1 year. I also wear soft, hydrophilic contact lens that I put in cleaning solution every night and reuse for 2 weeks. I also always wear safety glasses when working in either school labs or work labs, so I am not worried about splashes into my eyes while wearing contacts so much. However, I am wondering the potential impact of various volatile substances absorbing into the contact lens and potentially being held against the eye for a prolonged period of time. I don't work with anything particularly volatile, and try to use hoods and keep my distance whenever possible. I am wondering how safe it is to wear lens in laboratory (with safety goggles). I would appreciate info from anyone who has had any negative effects, extensive chemistry knowledge or knowledge of eyes. Also are a different type safer (daily or hard) etc.
Thanks
I really cant help out to much but i am in a biology class and we are working with the cadavers right now and even though we have saftey googles on we are still told not to waer our contacts because there is a possibility of sticking to them

Total accessories??? should i pay extra in addition to base price?is it optional or is it required???
No, accessories are NEVER required.
In rare cases with cars that are hot sellers like the Toyota Prius last year, dealers would rather wait on other buyers who will purchase the car with added accessories.
However the ES is not in extremely high demand so you should be able to tell the dealer to remove the accessories or find another ES with no accessories. If they do not comply then simply walk away and find another dealership.
This invoice is a bit confusing, it says your total accessory cost is $2040, but trunk mats, wheel locks, and cargo nets certainly do not cost that much.
To give you a better idea we bought an 08 ES 350 with the premium plus package with navigation for 38k out the door. Hope this helps, also visit carsdirect.com for a good idea on how much you should pay.
Just remember all the auto dealers are hurting right now, you have a lot more power than they do. If you are not satisfied with the car or the deal they are giving you simply walk away. Try another dealership.
They seem to miss bits out?
Domestic violance - "Last year, 6.4% of 20 to 24-year-old men said they were victims of partner abuse, compared with 5.4% of women according to an anonymous survey." Whilst other links I've found put 1/4 of women domestic abused at somepoint compared to 1/6 of men. Thats not as big a difference as what people make it out tp be.

Glass cieling - Doesn't take into account women are more likely to sacrafice for family, less likely to ask for a rise, less women go into occupations with a 'glass cieling' and cites number of women in top jobs as evidence. Thats not equal rights thats equal outcome.
Stereotypes - Say the women's stereotype portrays them negativly. Eh hem so does a man's. And any LGBTs, more so than women's!
Equal pay - "Another feminist, Carey Roberts states, "According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, full-time Men clock an average of 45 hours a week, while women put in 42 hours. Men are more than twice as likely as women to work at least 50 hours a week - that's why most CEOs are male. " then maternity leave is going to have an impact isn't it.
" 2001 survey of business owners with M.B.A.s conducted by the Rochester Institute of Technology found that money was the primary motivator for only 29% of women, versus 76% of men. Women prioritized flexibility, fulfillment, autonomy and safety. "
"And among workers who have never been married and never had children, women earn 117% of what men do. (This factors in education, hours worked and age.) "

3rd world - Ah hah an actual problem! Lets redirect the feminist movement torwards an actual issue eh ;)
How many people here would support the feminist movement if it helped women who needed it? Where the feminist movement does I support it but from what I've seen thats hardly the main part.
The holey babble: Have a thumbs up for your good work :) its that sort of feminism I support :)
Doodlebug: that still leaves 1 in 16 women being raped. Thats a lot more than I am happy with.
They are pretty quick to make things up too e.g. '1 in 4 women are raped', which is a lie based on the 'all men are rapists' attitude.
The Independent Women's Forum maintains that this statistic is BS: "based on a fallacious feminist study commissioned by Ms. magazine. The researcher, Mary Koss, hand-picked by hard-line feminist Gloria Steinem, acknowledges that 73 percent of the young women she counted as rape victims were not aware they had been raped. Forty-three percent of them were dating their 'attacker' again" http://www.massnews.com/2003_Editions/5_ May/050503_mn_umass_feminists_hate_men_r ally.shtml_feminists_hat
Edit
"that still leaves 1 in 16 women being raped. Thats a lot more than I am happy with"
Sure. Nobody should be raped, and nobody should lie about rape. And feminists should stop ignoring the fact that there are a huge number of male victims of rape http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/pdf/cvu s/current/cv0693.pdf

Eye safety guarantee provided by bifocal safety spectacles : eye ...
From its name, most people can get two basic aspects of information of bifocal safety spectacles or eyeglasses. They are vision correction and eye safety. The first aspect is ensured by the lenses’ functional design, while the second aspect is guaranteed by the quality of the lenses. First, it is important to know a confusing point of the vision correction provided by bifocal safety glasses. It is true that these lenses only have a positive power embedded in the lower portion. The upper section has no power at all. So, only close-up vision tasks can benefit from wearing these eyeglasses. This is as equally helpful as regular reading glasses. Knowing this will help customers keep appropriate expectation while seeking for vision aid from bifocal safety spectacles.
For presbyopic workers or athletes staying frequently in any form of potentially dangerous situation, eye safety guarantee is in some degrees more crucial. It is less or more reasonable to say that clear vision sacrifice is less serious than an eye injury. So, nearly all kinds of safety eyeglasses including bifocal ones are required to be manufactured according to very strict safety standards. This is the essential part of this writing. In the United States, any type of safety glasses produced by any brand that has passed rigorous tests will be given an official safety rating. Generally speaking, there are two main types of bifocal safety reading glasses: basic impact and high impact.
