As a poor student I purloined an old car battery and I need to a small amount of acid-can anyone tell me a safe way of extracting(without stating the need for safety glasses/gloves,etc.)
Thanks
Draw it out from the top vent holes with a large pipette, but note only a fully charged battery has strong acid, a dead one is mostly water...BE CAREFUL ! I purloined a large glass roasting pan and dumped the acid out then decanted it into a bottle with a funnel after the trash settled.

What materials are used for safety clothing such as gloves, helmets and glasses etc and why are these materials used for these products used?
Dont have to answer all of them. Any help is appreciated
I also need to know why these materials are used
Each job offers its own hazards, which is why safety clothing is so important. There is a wide variety of safety clothing available to handle specific needs for each job. Safety clothing can include everything from fire retardant suits down to simple eye-protection.
By using the right safety clothing, employees can make sure they are protected from the most common injuries on the job.
Safety clothing often comes in bright colors or with reflective patches so that the worker is more visible to other employees as well.
My Boyfriend is a sheet metal worker. He works indoor in a metal wharehouse. Lately the temperature outside is in the high 90(F)'s. Inside the wharehouse it is 115(F) or hotter. He is required to wear long work pants, work boots, t-shirt, gloves, and safety glasses. He currently drinks LOTs of cold water. He is getting headach's and rash's from the heat. What can he do to stay cool? Help with the headach's, prevent the rash? Any suggestions would be helpful
Wetting a bandana and putting it around his neck or over his head will help. As long as the head and neck stay cool then the rest of the body tends to feel cooler. It's good that he's drinking lots of water...he will get dehydrated easily working in that environment which is what is probably contributing to the headaches. He could also get one of those water bottle fans and spray himself with it. There have been times when I had to dump an entire bottle of cold water over my head to keep from getting heat exhaustion. As far as the rashes go, it's hard to say how to prevent those. If he wears snug fitting clothes that rub against his skin while he's hot and sweaty it will cause the rash. I would suggest trying to wear loose clothing if at all possible.
