Army private on leave, can i get prescription glasses/contact lenses at a marine base?

Just graduated basic training and am home on leave, the closest military installation is a Marine base, Camp Pendleton, can i go to the PX there and purchase prescription glasses/contacts or am I better off waiting until I get to my unit?

Do you have your prescription? You can sometimes get a pair of glasses provided to you for free but that is not an option at every base out there and they can require you to be assigned to that base in order to get them. If you are looking for a new pair of glasses check out WalMart, Pearle Vision, etc... for glasses that you will have to pay for out of pocket because the PX isn't always the cheapest. Contacts are not provided for you in the military they are done at your own cost including prescriptions for them.

What is MEPS like? BEHIND THE SCENES!

obviously) unless they are prescribed but keep them in the prescribed container and bring prescription as well. Bring: Prescription glasses ID ...

Can I buy contaact lenses with my current prescription?

I'm in the Army and I haven't worn contacts for about a year. I had an Army physical today, which included an eye exam. I wear glasses and the physical provided me with my full glasses prescription.

I also have my old contact lense box which has the power, diameter, and base curve printed on the side. If I brought the box and that prescription to a civilian eyeglass store, would I be able to order contacts through them?

Thank you!

No, you will require a valid contact lens prescription before you can order them. This test is different to your test for glasses. As you have not worn lenses for over a year, then your last prescription will have expired

Glasses in the army while deployed?

is it true that after basic training and you're deployed somewhere you can get your prescription in a set of blast resistant glasses or goggles.

Absolutely! My husband is Army and he has SEVERAL sets of prescription glasses. He has two regular pair, Army issued that are shatterproof. For his goggles and eyepro he has inserts the clip onto the inside with his prescription in them, that are also shatter proof. The Army will issue you all these things if they are required.

Mat, are you from the U.K.? I can better answer your question (from a military standpoint) if you are from the U.S.

Sunglasses have become necessary items for fashionable people in summer, but the evolutionary history of them are widely divided. It is nature that every country wants to be the cradle of sunglasses which are very popular now. But there is only one. Where is it?Why the Most Expensive cheap glasses in This winter are So Odd?

There have been at least three countries who have claimed that they first invented glasses. 500 years ago, a Spanish missionary mentioned in his book that he had brought eyeglasses from China to Spain.
