Yes, he will be issued NODs/NVGs/NVDs (night optical devices, night vision goggles, night vision devices). The Army will issue him every single item he would ever need, and a lot that he won't even want.

He would not be allowed to wear his own private ones even if he had them.

Additionally, the PVS-14 that the Army is buying now are about $3500 each... not cheap.

Are wearing glasses a pain if you have a MOS that is on the battlefeild and you need goggles?

If your on the battle feild and need goggles for some reason, does the army provide goggles that can be used with glasses? answers appreciated

yes they provide inserts for your goggles. I'd also recommend buying prescription ballistic glasses, which are much better than what the military provides. oakley makes great prescription ballistic eyewear.

Why does my Husband have to wear goggles/plastic glasses and a bright orange vest?

My husband is in Army Basic training in Fort Leonardwood Missouri. He is training to become and MP as well. He got to send me a picture via email and in it he looks all dirty and sweaty and he's wearing goggles and a bright orange traffic type vest. I was just wondering if anyone knew why he was dressed like this.

Because for an MP - goggles keep the dust, debris etc out of your eyes and the vest (hopefully) makes it more likely that a vehicle driver will see you (and not run you over by accident).

Is it illegal to buy night vision goggles ?

I ask because I know a man who got them from the Army and he is retired now and is willing to sell me his goggles . Personally I would love to have a pair but I don't know if they are illegal to own .
The man who is wants to sell them is a retired Navy Seal he didnt steal them and want them because I like to camp and fish and I would find these handy in the woods in the middle of the night .

Not illegal to purchase, but if you are selling them, you can;t sell them overseas without a Department Of State certification.

I know that some NVG goggles are being tagged as "Field Losses" by soldier, who then take them home to sell them at pawn shops; that in itself is stealing and punishable with federal prison time (I'm a former Army MP and current Federal Corrections Officer, so I know).

THere are serious limitations on the sale of devices like these, but you will always see a pair float around on eBay from time to time, some are lega, some may be stolen; I suggest you watch your back on that.

Hi, most of the pics that i've seen of U.S. troops on the field show 'em wearing if not on the face... at least on the helmet with the cover on or without the cover, and you'll also agree with me (1VB)Blackbear, that the number of troops on 1St line wearing those 60s look alike safety glasses in combat is nimor than the number of troops using the ESS combat goggles. Hi, i only seen 'em in game with the v3.0.4 and never before; i'd reached the 27 honour points and like three or four ranks by that time having all my trainings done as expert unless the SMD training, that i'd qualifyed as profficent; now im First Sargeant and i must have like 71 or 72 honour points (i don't know because my in game overview pannel is bugged and don't shows my current rank or honour level) but i don't see the ESS goggles in game since the v3.0.4 that that was the last time that all the completed trainings worked apparently; so i still thinking that that theory of mine may be valid. I don't care if the combat...
