Will they allow bags like these?
Typically they'll supply everything you're going to need for Basic at Basic, even underwear.
Not that I'd suggest you take them up on it.
Anything that they won't be supplying you with, you can usually pick up at the base's PX, which your DIs will take you to early on in your training.
When I went, I went out just before I shipped and bought up a bunch of plain white crew length socks (come up to just about your calf), underwear (non-restrictive, plain white) and a toothbrush in it's own little case. I brought along some pens, envelopes, legal pad and two books of stamps (didn't need the second book) and an activated pre-paid cell phone with 300 minutes loaded on to it (useful for transporting to or from Basic, and for any off base liberty you may be awarded during BMT) as I "suspended" my actual cell phone contract while I was going to be away, so I wouldn't be paying the bill for something I wouldn't be using.
And have you thought of that? You seem to have a bunch of stuff packed and ready to go, but do you have your finances in order? Cell phone bills, shares of utilities or rent? Storage bills? Anything of that nature, make sure you make arrangements prior to shipping or you'll have some upset people looking around for you when you get home in a few months.
Good luck.

Hey I'm a teenage guy and I've gained an interest in airsoft. I've played a lot of gun games like laser tag and fps (first person shooter) video games, so I really want to have a sport I can go into that expresses what I've played before.
There is a problem though. My Dad isn't comfortable with me and airsoft guns. We have a bb gun and it is in my room, but he is ok with that. I researched airsoft for weeks and I have been raised to take things extremely carefully until I gain a habit of doing the activity safely, so I don't understand why he won't let me go into the sport of airsoft when he will let me handle a bb gun. And he knows I won't do anything without common sense (I'm really careful with anything potentially dangerous). This morning I asked him 1 more time to get an airsoft gun and he said "Umm...It's not a good sign you are getting interested in guns." I thought that he meant I might get a gain interest of real guns or joining the army, but I just want to play a sport not end my life sooner then it is supposed to end. So Im going to ask all of you parents what you might think if your child gets interested in realistic looking toy guns.
Here is Some basic information about Airsoft: Airsoft is a sport similar to paintball but airsoft hurts less and is cheaper (which is what I like about it). Airsoft guns look very realistic compared to what they replicate. They fire a small 6mm round plastic bb with weights usually around .12g. The dangers of Airsoft are that if a powerful gun is fired at a range that is too close it may penetrate the skin (but the bb won't go inside the body, it will just bounce off), it may take out an eye if the proper eyewear is not being worn, and a police officer may take the toy gun as a real gun and shoot you if he feels threatened.
I have many precautions about the last danger as it may cause death. Airsoft guns are not to be played where the public may see. They are to be concealed when they are being transported. And I know what to do if I confront an officer.
Well there you go. All you need to know. Parents please tell me what your side of the story is when your child is getting interested in a sport such as this.
Well an Airsoft pellet is plastic but most airsoft rifles shoot very fast and hurt if your too close. BB guns pellets hurt too but shoot one at a time. Just dont be irresposible and stupid enought to go CC combat on your your friends and shove the gun in their back and fire away. Just tell your dad that I can hndle the responsibility of a replica of a dangerous automatic rifle, but shoots plastic.

As an Army Reservist, found out my unit will be deploying soon enough. My question is, do you get issued new gear before you go? I'm speaking of IBA's, ACH's, Camelbacks, eyewear, uniforms? And by new I mean brand-spanking new, not just new to my person. What other gear should I expect to receive? I ask this not because I don't have a clue what's going on in my unit, I ask because my superiors are way overwhelmed with all the other individuals that are deploying now.
Before you leave you will go to SRP (solider readiness something), where they will see what you have, and issue you what you need.

Don Draper's Sunglasses | Primer
If you didn’t take our advice last year to pick up a pair of square-framed aviator sunglasses , you might want to reconsider now that they’ve been paired up with Mad Men genius Donald Draper. Okay, so maybe he didn’t take it from us, but clearly the suave star and the costumers behind the scenes have great taste in eyewear.
For right around $50 on Amazon or your local Army/Navy Surplus store, you too can own a pair of the very glasses designed to conquer the skies in fighter jets and plant footsteps on the moon. With timeless styling, a great profile, and a badass look, these sunglasses give you that $300 look with $250 leftover.
Unlike in this month’s GQ, we won’t call you a Penny-Pincher when you pick up these AO Aviators, we’ll just call you good looking. In return, all we ask is that next time, you listen to us so you can beat Draper to the punch.
