Army Bc Glasses

Answers

Do you graduate Army BCT in the BC glasses or can you wear your contacts?
like my new glasses?

You're in BCGs until you hit ground at AIT.

BC glasses, oh my!

Yea I got bored, stuck in traffic, & thought I would entertain some folks.

Wearing glasses in the Army?

Well i leave for camp in 17 days (right after i graduate HS) and i don't have the best vision. I've never worn glasses before (just contacts) and i know that i will have to wear those huge BC glasses. When I'm done with basic training and AIT (if time is allowed) can get laser eye surgery during leave? Or can i wear contacts when I'm doing drills and stuff?

You can wear contacts i think, but nobody I know did that because they often fall out during the more rigorous drills. It is acceptable to get laser eye surgery but I would advise talking to your NCO first in case they need to make arrangements or exceptions etc. A friend of mine who did basic two years before me just stuck with the glasses they issued since it is much easier and less of a hassle even if it does look awkward.

And I don't think contacts were allowed in basic and if you were to be deployed to say Iraq or Afghanistan, obviously the sandstorms and stuff are going to cause problems for you. I would recommend the laser eye surgery in the long run as long as your command allows it.

Going to Ft. Jackson at the end of the month and I have a lot of questions?

How many set of Civilian clothes should I take?

Besides toiletries what should I take?

I have a really long AIT, 24 Weeks with no break between BCT and AIT so should I bring stuff like a cell phone and contact lenses because I'll be allowed to take those to AIT but not BCT.

Are Stamps really as important as I've heard?

I already have been getting Drill Pay with the TXARNG so will I have to get another Direct Deposit slip to take with me?

I don't need glasses to see, I just need them to see 20/20 so can I just wear the BC glasses on the rifle range or will I have to wear them the whole time?

I heard in AIT some places have a common room where there's a TV, Xboxs and computers. Is this true?

Can I wear compression shorts in BCT, or does the army make you wear tighty whiteys and jock straps while running?

Any solutions to the obstacles in Victory Forge so my squad will look High Speed?

Are you allowed to bring note books to certain classes in BCT to take notes?

I've heard that I should bring Q tips and Cotton balls because they rock fro cleaning the m16. Is this a smart idea?

How long does it take you to get to phase 5+ in AIT?

I'm going to be in Reception for 9 days. Why am I waiting so friggin long to get to BCT?

Are Omelet MREs really as bad as everyone says?

Do the DI's have you name your rifle?

And is there anything in particular I should watch out for at Jackson or Eustis?

You don't bring many civilian clothes maybe two changes of clothing.
The idea of making you wait long in Reception, according to my brother, is to make you actually want to get on with BCT because Reception is so boring. Which brings me to my next point. In reception you can buy whatever, its basic when they get strict, so you should buy stuff there when you're with other people [steal their ideas] Yes stamps are very important. My brother said he used to do peoples guard duty in exchange for stamps. Yes bring cell phones and stuff for AIT. They will lock them up during basic then give them back. Although my brother was told its best not to bring anything, but maybe he got a break in between? Yes you can bring note books to class. There are no solutions to Victory Forge until you are there to visually formulate a plan [especially the tower-good luck lol!] Yes some places in AIt will have a common room. Yes Q tips are a smart idea to clean your rifle. Baby wipes is a very good item to bring-its a long time before you have a shower. You will probably have to wear their glasses the whole time. You wear whatever they give you. In my opinion, all MREs suck but thats just me. They gonna have you nice and backed up too. You're gonna be hearing a lot about the DI's grandmothers [they're going to be telling you their grandmothers can do it better] so who knows what they'll make you do! For questions like your glasses, and cell phones for AIT you really need to talk to a recruiter. Go to www.goarmy.com and speak to an online recruiter [they're still open] and ask some of these questions and they'll answer them. I suggest you go go go, cuz i think the chat room shuts at 10?
Thanks for serving B, x
