Monocles Are Back In Fashion?

Generally, I’m not a fashionable guy.  I wear old teeshirts and slacks or khaki pants to work, and aside from special occasions, I’m not one to dress in any elaborate way.  However, I do like flair.  For example, to work this morning I wore a long coat, scarf, leather gloves, and a Trillby hat as protection against the weather.  Is it a bit much?  Perhaps.  Do I feel like a jaunty young man who just stepped out of a Dickens novel?  You know it!  That’s why I’m as pleased as punch that the monocole is making a comeback .

Vision Express, a British eyewear company, has reported a shocking uptake of young men my age ordering monocles.  Described as “one of those inexplicable fashion things” by company chief Bryan Magrath, it is believed that the kids are adopting the monocle as a nod to their grandparents’ generation.  The monocle was the height of fashion prior to WWII, but went out of style due to German officers loving it.
