I recently bought a pair of the fake glasses from a small fashion boutique.. and they are exactly what ive been looking for for my prescription glasses.. can i take them into my optometrist and add prescription to the lenses?
It would be quite pricey but plausible but not all frames can handle having lenses added to them. They might be too cheap and crack when adding lenses. I'd highly suggest buying them online http://optical4less.com they have very cheap prices and lots of styles to choose from.

Most anywhere, but if you've seen a prescription frame that you like and you want them without prescription lenses then order from one of the on-line shops and just tell them you want non-prescription lenses. They should be able to ship right away because they don't have to have to make prescription lenses. I've attached an article that talks about buying glasses over the Internet. I think it is fine. I HAVE to wear glasses and wish I didn't. However, if people want to express themselves with non-prescription glasses, I don't see the harm. Some glasses are pretty tight and if a person finds they like it and are comfortable; GO FOR IT!

My first clue that my vision was going came when I bought a new television set in 1985 and couldn't get the picture to come in clearly. My wife and three children assured me there was nothing wrong with the set and I should see an optometrist.
My first glasses were uncomfortable. The heavy black rims made me look like a poor man's Clark Kent working at a weekly newspaper instead of a metropolitan daily like the Globe.
I now wear more aesthetically appealing glasses, but they're still bothersome. I take them off to read. Up close, my eyes work fine. Any distance over a few feet is a blur.
I shrugged off the Clark Kent glasses a couple of decades ago and got a lightweight pair with a flexible frame. I figured the hi tech flexible material would withstand any kind of punishment. I've since learned that the breaking point of flexible glasses is easily reached by children under the age of 5.
