what is the best eyewear store out there? I get to buy one free pair of eyeglasses (not sunglasses) and contact lenses because of my insurance.

what store would you recommend? (preferrably in canada please)
costco vision? walmart vision? hakim optical?

i'm not sure if vision insurance in canada is similar to insurance in the US, but if it is...

it depends on the kind of insurance you have and whether or not the optical office accepts your insurance. for example, if you have VSP - a very large vision insurance company in the US - you won't be able to use it at costco, walmart, or any other major retailer because VSP is only accepted by private doctors.

you should find out more information about your insurance benefits and call around to different offices/stores and ask if they accept your insurance plan. Make sure that your insurance does in fact, like you say, cover both glasses AND contacts....many insurance companies in the US don't. also, how much does your insurance company cover towards frames and or glasses (Frame + Lenses)? you said you get a free pair of glasses, but a free $30 pair of glasses is different from a $300 pair of glasses.

with that said, if you do decide to get glasses, you can try costco optical (although be warned that many of their frames are discontinued so they may not have any warranty against manufacturer's defects) also, it takes a couple weeks for costco to get your glasses to you. if you have a taste for higher end frames, you can try lenscrafters, which has more designer frames and might possibly get your glasses to you in an hour, depending on your prescription.

I bought eyeglass frames more than 5 years ago in this little rural GA town; I now live in Central FL and cannot find any glasses for wide bridge noses. The frame I have is from Nine West and it is semi-rimless. Rimless on top. Everyone comments on how good they look, but cannot help me replicate this style. I do not have to have this particular style, just one for wide nose bridges. Any suggestions?

get wire franes, wich could easily adjusted.

Just wanted to know if it is good before I head over there and go out in the sun. The sun isn't exactly my friend lol. Im from upper eastside so thats a lot of walking. I avoid driving as much as possible for the exercise. But wouldn't want to go there to find I dont like anything. I hear their sunglasses are over the top and Lady gaga-like.

I have spent half my life watching so called champions of this and champions of that, at snooker, shooting, darts, and they all get away with wearing specs and other forms of eyewear.
I am not talking about having a game down the pub on a Sat afternoon
zargoniu. I have never seen anyone with glasses in the ring for a championship fight. have you ?
arbiter, There was a legless guy who used adapted legs to race and he was disqualified and banned from running in major athletics, so your arguement does not wash.

To reply to zargoniu's answer : Nothing but rules and regulations I think, but yes, I think there is far to much cheating with regards to competitive sports and eyesight. It should be brought under control the same as with drugs but they should be allowed to take part in the paedophilic games.
