Do I NEED protective eyewear for my laser?

I ordered a laser pointer from dealextreme and the website says this:
Most of these and other made in China green lasers do not have IR filters and thus can be hazardous to eyes without proper protective eye wear. By all means if you are unsure of what this means get the 5mW version for your safety.
Do I need protective eyewear, or do they just suggest it or point it out so that you are aware and wont shine it in your eye?

to summarize, do i NEED eyewear, or is it just incase you point it in your eye - in other words Can i look at it on the wall, etc. safely?
Does it reflect back from the wall or other objects that could harm me?

It is YOUR eyes vs paying for glasses. I would buy that eye wear, better safe than sorry.

Which mW of Green Laser should i purchase?

I want to buy a green laser and have the option of 5, 10, 20, 30 mW
I am told that more than 5 mW can damage your eyes without eyewear, but I dont want a 5mW laser, should i get a 10 or a 20 mW, or would that just be risking it? (like comon, you mean to tell me 5mW wont hurt ur eyes, but the 10 will? haha)

Thanks!
Which one?

be more specific

I would go for a 50mW. If you are responsible and careful, nothing bad will happen, and 50mW got a sick beam in the dark.

Eye damage from laser hair removal?

About two months ago I went in for the first time to have laser hair removal performed on the area in between my eyebrows and above my nose. The doctor told me that normally patients wear protective eyewear but that he could not perform it if I wore them. He told me I would be fine as long as I kept my eyes closed during the procedure. Afterwards I didn't have any problems with my eyes. Today I went in for my second treatment and also did not wear eyewear. Since then (about 2 hours ago) my eyes have been pretty sensitive to light. They feel like they would if I spent a little too much time outside without sunglasses. I have not had any problems with my vision or any significant discomfort, just some sensitivity to light.

Could this have caused any damage to my eyes? Should I schedule an appointment with an opthalmologist?

Yes...that would be very...wise. To get it checked out, I mean. But an even wiser thing to do would be to just wax in between your brows from now on. It's very quick...hardly hurts at all, if you do it right. Unless you have a REALLY bushy uni! lol. Sorry... I probably shouldn't joke, lol. But anyways, just go get it checked out & you should be fine. Good luck! :)

  • safety eyewear for red laser?

I am getting a little in doubt of which of the dragonlaser glasses i should buy because i want the see what im doing with the laser and the blue one states that the laser beam dot is clearly visible through them but the green doesnt. although the green are the one that provides the best protection as far as i can see. it protects from 600-700 nm and blue just protects from 590-650 nm where my laser is 655 +-5 nm
