What is the difference between EMI and Antireflective coat on eyewear lenses?
Sunglasses 2011: Gozen by Rudy Project

Anti-reflective or antireflection (AR) coatings are a type of optical coating applied to the surface of lenses and other optical devices to reduce reflection. This improves the efficiency of the system since less light is lost. In complex systems such as a telescope, the reduction in reflections also improves the contrast of the image by elimination of stray light. This is especially important in planetary astronomy. In other applications, the primary benefit is the elimination of the reflection itself, such as a coating on eyeglass lenses that makes the eyes of the wearer more visible, or a coating to reduce the glint from a sniper's scope.

Often, coatings are composed of transparent thin film structures, with alternating layers of contrasting refractive index. Layer thicknesses are chosen to produce destructive interference in the beams reflected from the interfaces, and constructive interference in the corresponding transmitted beams. This makes the structure's performance change with wavelength and incident angle, so that color effects often appear at oblique angles. A wavelength range must be specified when designing or ordering such coatings, but good performance can often be achieved for a relatively wide range of frequencies: usually a choice of IR, visible, or UV is offered.

Single lens coatings were invented in November 1935 by Alexander Smakula, who was working for the Carl Zeiss optics company. Anti-reflection coatings were a military secret of Germany until the early stages of World War II

If I take my sunglasses to an eyewear place, would they be able to take the lenses out?
Reading Glasses

And replace them with clear ones?
Because I have the Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and I love how they look (with clear lenses). So I was just wondering.

You can have the lenses replaced no problem, did it for years. The only problem may be finding a place to do it. Go to an independent optical, instead of a chain, like lenscrafters, target, etc. (The company that owns lenscrafters is the same company who owns the RayBan name now). Those places will be less likely to help you with your own frame because they want to sell you a whole pair of glasses, not just the lenses. Independent opticians are usually more customer service oriented and better suited to assist you with your easy request.

I bought essilor transition lenses for my eyewear. It changes to brown colour in sunlight and not grey..Why?
Cleaning solution

Also, it is not geting as dark as shown in their ads? PLs tell me whats the reason of that?????

They just exaggerate the color it changes in the commericial.
When i went to my eye doctor, they had a little ad for that, and they had the lenses with half covered, and the other half uncovered.
So when you flip the cover off, you could see the different between the one that was dark, and the original color.
Most of them turn a brown-ish color, so it isn't your lenses in particular, it's just the overall product.

top eyewear store (big selection of eyeglasses/contact lenses)?
Eye Glasses

what is the best eyewear store out there? I get to buy one free pair of eyeglasses (not sunglasses) and contact lenses because of my insurance.

what store would you recommend? (preferrably in canada please)
costco vision? walmart vision? hakim optical?

i'm not sure if vision insurance in canada is similar to insurance in the US, but if it is...

it depends on the kind of insurance you have and whether or not the optical office accepts your insurance. for example, if you have VSP - a very large vision insurance company in the US - you won't be able to use it at costco, walmart, or any other major retailer because VSP is only accepted by private doctors.

you should find out more information about your insurance benefits and call around to different offices/stores and ask if they accept your insurance plan. Make sure that your insurance does in fact, like you say, cover both glasses AND contacts....many insurance companies in the US don't. also, how much does your insurance company cover towards frames and or glasses (Frame + Lenses)? you said you get a free pair of glasses, but a free $30 pair of glasses is different from a $300 pair of glasses.

with that said, if you do decide to get glasses, you can try costco optical (although be warned that many of their frames are discontinued so they may not have any warranty against manufacturer's defects) also, it takes a couple weeks for costco to get your glasses to you. if you have a taste for higher end frames, you can try lenscrafters, which has more designer frames and might possibly get your glasses to you in an hour, depending on your prescription.

How much does it cost to get prescription lenses in Prada Glasses?
Iconic Eyewear

I am going to purchase some Prada eyeglasses from <framesdirect.com> without the lenses because the information they asked pertaining my prescription I did not know. So can I go to my formal eyewear place and have them put my lenses in and what will be the approximate cost or is it possible?

The lenses will cost the same in Prada frames as in any other frame..

Sure, any optical can put in lenses for you, but as for price...that can vary a lot, depending what you need, what options you want, and where you go.
