Kids Eyeglass Frames

All the women's frames at places like Lenscrafter are too big on me, and I don't like the kids' frames.

i'm 23yrs old and i'm getting my first pair of glasses.

i have a round face and big round cheeks. and i have a fairly small sized head. (i usually have to wear kids sized baseball caps and winter hats. if i have a regular sized hat it will fall off LOL)

i was thinking small squared frames.

what do you think?

What do you do with your old eyeglasses? My fellow expats and I are collecting old frames from eyeglasses, especially kid's size.
There is a group of kids at the Sanatorium in Sta Barbara, Iloilo, The Philippines that need glasses. Their parents are lepers and are rejected, so they can't find work and don't have any money.
One of our friends is an eye surgeon who checks and heals the kids eyes. Some of them need glasses. If we could collect the frames, then the optician can put the right glasses in them. We could also use iso - betadine, an antiseptic.

I asked what YOU are doing with them...and if you are not doing anything with them if you could donate them, either to our project or to your lions club...but please don't throw them away as garbage...

Just curious if anyone has had great luck at any of the following places for kids eyeglasses?

Lenscrafters
Walmart

Ok, I guess those are the only 2 places near me that we would go.

I talked to Lenscrafters and all of their lenses/frames for kids under age 12 are 1/2 price. That might be where I go but has anyone had good luck at either place?

Also to add, at what level of correction did your child start needing glasses?

My son is testing at 20/40 in school and we go to the eye dr's in a few weeks. We have a BIG family history of bad vision so I'm sure it's inevitable.

costco, if they have kid's eyeglasses.

They cut the middle man out. good quality and good prices.

Lenscrafter's are highway robbers.

Just do some price checking between the two and you will see. I have insurance and even with my insurance applied at Lenscrafters, butnot applied at Costco....Costco is still like 50-60% less than Lenscrafters.

i really need glasses, my prescription went up a lot.
we went to a place today, and i really liked these frames.
http://eyeglasses.go-optic.com/store/Eye glasses/details.asp?id=9496 at that place, it cost 210 dollars. at that, my dad went crazy. he started yelling at me in the store, and compared the price to glasses in taiwan, which are about 120 dollars. he asked me why i didnt get glasses in taiwan, and i said that all their styles are ugly, and i really really liked the said frames. besides, i went to a place in taiwan, and i could tell the material was really cheap. i was really embarrassed, because people were staring at me. now my parents want me to get eyeglasses from costo. i didnt see any good frames, their kids section is too small, and their adults section is too big. i really want the coach frames, what can i do to convince my dad?

You have to also understand here that you are paying for a name, "Coach".

If you take the time and really look and try on others you might be surprised to find a pair comparable to them without paying so much to have a name stamped on them.

And really the total cost of the glasses, iy is the lenses that end up costing so much and adding to the already overpriced frames.
