Reading Eye Glasses

Ok in my left eye i am a -3.50 and in the right I am a -3.25. I was just curious about purchasing reading glasses in place of the traditional rx glasses. Has anyone every done this. Thanks.
well is there a store where you can buy negative lenses. I have heard that they do not sell these glasses in the US in pharmacies, but can you purchase these out of the US.

I used to be nearsighted. I now have good vision from laser eye surgery. If I use the computer or read books a lot, will I become nearsighted again?

Should I use reading glasses to protect my eyes? I can focus at both close and distant objects but I can feel my eyes readjusting every time I look at close objects.

Depends on what type of surgery you had done.

If you just had surgery to correct your short-sight, then eventually when you get older 45 - 50 (depends how old you are now) you will need reading glasses anyway. But you only need the reading glasses when you find it difficult to read things up close.

If you use the computer/read books a lot this will NOT make you short-sighted again- don't worry, your vision has been corrected and you are like a normal person with perfect vision.

But as I said all adults once they reach 45-50 need reading glasses regardless of their near/distance vision.

You will feel your eyes adjusting obviously, that's perfectly normal after laser surgery.

Don't worry, if you are at the stage where you need reading glasses then wear them when reading, but for distance and near your vision should be fine and you cannot become short-sighted again.

I've been doing some research in the past few hours about eye strain from computer use and just plain old reading from paper. I've always gotten headaches from extended periods of reading, but now it seems to occur faster and with other symptoms. I have really good vision, I'm just having issues with reading. So I was just wondering if picking up a pair of read/computer glasses from a local store would help? Or should i go visit a doctor first?

yes, over-the-counter glasses will help, there cheap, even the dollar store carries glasses. try it first to see if it helps, if not, visit a doctor

and how do you figure out you size?

You get eye glasses because you got a prescription from the optometrist. He decided how much correction your vision needed to become 20/20. The reading glasses can be purchased at almost any store such as Walmart. You just try them on until you find a pair that fits your head and allows you to view clearly what ever it is you are looking at. and the difference in cost is hundreds less.

Bad ?...compared to many...no...compared to many others...yes.

That person is fairly nearsighted in the right eye and would certainly benefit from that correction.

the left eye has mixed astigmatism which is also fairly strong...

All in all...that person needs glasses to see well and not get headaches.

EDIT***

That persons vision will probably get worse either way...if they are young yet and still growing, then it will change for sure.

Wearing the glasses won't make them any better or worse...it will just provide visual comfort until a change is due.
