Prescription Eyeglasses Lens

My contact lens prescription contains all the information I need. My only question is, how significant a difference is there between the values for contacts and eyeglasses for the same person?

If you have a prescription for both, how much do the values vary?

My contacts and glasses have always been exactly the same prescription. If you are getting a new pair of glasses and you are not getting them from the eye doctor that gave you the prescription - they might want you to have a prescription specifically for glasses and not just contacts.

i purchased a pair of eyeglasses online and my prescription is kinda strong -4.50 in both eyes. i ordered polycarbonate lenes will these lenes be thick?

It depends on the size and shape of the frame as well as the prescription. The larger the frame is, the thicker the edges will be.

A polycarbonate lens should be sufficient as long as the frame is not excessively wide compared to the distance between your pupils.

If you have a small amount of astigmatism, it will be left off your contact lens prescription. If you have a larger amount of astigmatism, the axis may be modified to account for the rotation of the lens. If you are very near or far sighted, the power will be modified since the effect of the power changes depending on how far from your eye it is. Often powers have to be rounded off because a contact is not made as custom as glasses are.

I have prescription eyeglasses and one lens came out and broke. Can i get new glasses made from the one remaining lens or do i have to go back and get my prescription from the optometrist?

You will need new lenses since each eye has a different prescription. If has been less than a year and you still have the prescription you can just get the lenses replaced. Or get contacts trust me you will never go back to glasses. Well not really I still use glasses at night.

I recently purchased Raybans with no prescription as I am using them for an acting project and they fit it best.

I didn't realize one of the Raybans demo lenses has a logo painted on it until I left the store. So we tried to get the logo off using nail polish remover and now that lens is pretty ruined since it removed coating.

Anyone know where I can:
-Buy a nonprescription lens cheap and put it in myself
-Have a lens put in cheap(lenscrafters charges $120 even for nonprescription lenses!!)

Or does anyone know of a way to fix a lens that was ruined by nail polish remover? It just looks blurry and smudged.

go to a small family owned optical store..for help me service..family run business will try harder...i used to have old lenses in a box along with old frames that i would use for these requests and wouldnt charge more than 20 bucks..good luck
