i fell in love with this eyeglass frame. I was wondering if i could have my eye doctor order them?

Why have your eye doctor order them? He is probably going to charge you extra, what you can do is buy the frame your self, than you can bring it in and have prescription lens put in them by your eye doctor or any other eye place.

But he most likely will ordered them for you if you really must.

I posted a question on the optical forum regarding a delivery issue with eyeglasses from an internet source. An optician with the handle footprintz got on his high horse and berated me for buying eyeglasses from a foreign source, specifically Hong Kong. What footprintz did not say was that virtually ALL eyeglasses in the US are made in China and he and his brethren routinely mark up eyeware approximately 1000%. That's one thousand percent. Once the public gets wise to this, do you think brick and mortar opticians have any future?

You have no clue on what costs are from the labs that we buy the lenses from, or the prices of good frames...Italian, and German and Japanese frames.

I have many frames in store that cost me over 100.00..and routinely pay 200.00 or more for top brand progressive lenses with top of the line coatings.

With glasses at that price, my markup would only be about 50%...they cost me 300.00, you pay 450.00...which includes my expertise in the fitting, all adjustments, and a full 2 year warranty....and...you are getting quality product that has been fitted for you by a professional.

The correct fitting of glasses can't be done without seeing the person.

Anyway...what I told you earlier was not to cry about a delay..the service is what you pay for...and your local economy is what keeps you in a job too.

We are not in the business to screw people...regardless of what you think.

The average layman has no clue about the complexities involved with eye glasses , and the knowledge needed to do it right.

And they have even less of a clue about the differences in quality of the product.

All I was saying is...you want cheap..you got it, don't complain because you don't get good service from the on-line site. It should be expected.

And, I'm not worried about the future, most people don't mind paying more to have the job done right , and have a place to go to when they have a problem.

When I have a problem with my car, I want the mechanic to work on it, not the kid behind the counter in the parts department.

Your right eye has no power in the lens...so it is PLANO or 0.00

Your left eye is a -0.75 sph

There is no cylinder or axis for either

You just need your PD..which is the distance in millimeters between your pupils. It may not be on your Rx from the Dr. ,
so you will have to go back and ask.

That is for the placement of the optical center of your lens.

I have trouble finding glasses that properly fit my face, but I'm interested in ordering glasses online because they're so cheap. I imagine one could take one's current glasses into his/her clinic and get all the glasses measurements, and then try to match them to a pair on the website as closely as possible. Could anyone who's purchased prescription glasses online offer more advice?

I've purchased many of glasses online and it's actually quite easy. All you have to do is measure your glasses and compare it with the measurements on the website. I buy from http://www.optical4less.com and they have all their measurements listed out. I find that very helpful because I've seen some eyeglasses site do not do this.

There is also a second option. I know at O4L they have customization. They can make certain selections in their inventory to fit your measurments of your current glasses. I've tried this method once and it was a perfect match.

I don't have any experiences with this firm, but I bought my prescription glasses at www.smartbuyglasses.com. I am very satisfied with them, they offered me good service and I have perfect sight with my glasses. I think they also have some frame + lens deals, so maybe they offer you a pair within your budget.
