Oakley Prescription Eyeglasses

I live in California and plan to buy my glasses from Lenscrafters, and I decided that I like the Oakley Jackknife 4.0 frame, which costs $250.00. The Lenscrafters people said that my lenses alone would cost $240, bumping the price up to $490. I have Eyemed insurance, so I would get $120 off of the frame, and $52 off of the lenses, for a total of [(250-120)+(240-52)]*1.0825=[130+188]*1.0825=318*1.0825=344.24. Are these price quotes reasonable? It seems awfully expensive, especially the lenses. I know that other brands of frames are cheaper; do lenses prices generally correspond to the frame price like what I was quoted?

Most chain opticals that sell Oakley also use Oakley lenses, which are made to your prescription, then coated using the Oakley coatings. They are very expensive.

Some private practice eye docs also participate in Eye Med (we do). They have more freedom in choice of prescription labs. The lab that I use does "oakley style" lenses (curved, neat coatings) for a fraction of the cost of oakley lenses. The quality is just as good, though.

These lenses will still cost you more than "standard" sunglass lenses, and you won't find them everywhere. Sometimes it pays to price shop.

Most Oakley prescription frames are fine, as long as the color is conservative. The logo is a trademark, and not an initial or adornment. Oakley has provided numerous products to the military directly, and they all have the "o" logo. You can find a huge selection of Oakley prescription frames at www.heavyglare.com. They do a lot of ballistic eyewear for the military as well.

Kind of a specific question, not sure if anyone would have the answer, but I understand that in an eyeglass prescription the cylinder is the measure for astigmatism. There is always a plus (+) or minus (-) sign present.

Now I am ordering a specific pair of Oakley sunglasses, but my sphere power of -5.00 is too high for it to hold my level of astigmitism. MyODCylinder = -0.75(Right Eye) and my OSCylinder = -1.25(Left Eye). The lowest value they have is 0, which I am guessing is no correction. They do not have anything in the negative. Can i go on ordering the glasses or will it make too much of a difference?

Dispensing of eyeglasses is a professional responsibility which requires training and licensure in most states.
Dispensing starts with a correct lens prescription from a licensed person.
It is not easy for an untrained person to acquire the knowledge necessary to interprit thre prescription and order glassses sucesssfully.

He used to wear Oakley's but I think now he wears Nike´s. I would like to know what's the model of them or what are best goggles or eyeglasses to wear while playing soccer. I need prescription eywear, cannot use contacts
