i'm gonna get a new pair of eyeglasses. what style of frame should i choose (color, shape, material, etc)? my face is kinda fat, more like an egg upside down, i'm a student majoring in business and i will soon graduate and work in the field of banking. thanks for helping.

I need new eyeglasses and I am tempted to get a more trendy frame style this time around, but always worry that it isn't really fitting to my face. What have been your experiences?

That was EXACTLY my situation a while back. I really really really liked the plastic rimmed rectangle ones, but I was afraid they would be non-trendy within a year or so. So what I did was I got dark brown metal frames (thin) that are a kind of rectangle shape, but a little bit slanted. The shape is updated but they aren't quite so ... blatant? is that the word? because I didn't get plastic frames.

I read that rectangle frams are better for people with rounded faces (like me) because they add some angles.

I need it for an actor in a play about WW2. He has to wear the glasses quite a bit on stage and he normally doesn't wear glasses. I don't have a lot of money to spend!

Try ebay. There is a pretty good selection for decent prices. They would normally either come with clear lenses or no lenses. I used to work for an eye doctor who put clear lenses in for free for several of my friends. Not sure what the going rate on this would be, but Im sure you could get something made for them.

I am writing on behalf of a friend who works at American Apparel, a clothing retail store, in Boulder. He was recently given a verbal warning about his eyeglasses, which he wears to correct his nearsightedness. Each employee must only wear clothing that is sold by American Apparel. He was told that he cannot wear his eyeglasses, because they are not sold by American Apparel. Is this a violation of the law? Can an employer reprimand an employee for use of a medical device? Finally, what are his options?

This might actually be a discrimination case. Your friend has a common medical condition, and I would imagine that it would be covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) because eyeglasses are a very common accommodation for this condition.

Your friend should ask his boss if he's supposed to work while half blind, or if American Apparel will pay for laser eye surgery. He also needs to get this warning in writing. He should smile sweetly, and say that he really needs this for the case he's building. Your friend should also contact a lawyer who specializes in labor law if he gets any more warnings for this.

The only way that American Apparel can tell him not to wear glasses is to tell him to wear mainstream glasses, without duct-tape repair. You know, a pair that doesn't look outlandish.

Man, I don't want to believe that some person would be so clueless as to try to tell an employee not to wear his GLASSES, for crying out loud! I'm extremely nearsighted, and without my glasses I'm legally blind. It's fairly common for a clothing and accessory store to encourage or even require its employees to wear its clothes, but if AA doesn't sell eyeglass frames, it can't require an employee to go without glasses!

I can't believe this.
