Eyeglasses Size

I'm getting new glasses soon, and I want to buy the frames online since it's much cheaper. But there are two different sizes of the glasses I want to buy. How do I know which size is the correct one for me?

I would suggest you go into an Optical Store and try on various frames. By doing this you get an idea of the shape and colour looks best on you, and you can make a note of the the size that fits you the best.
You will also need your PD to place an online order, so make sure you get that from your doctor or ask someone in the Optical Store to measure you.

Measure in inches or mm units.

It can be challenging to try to fit yourself with eyeglasses, but some online stores offer tips.

The optical center of your eyeglass lenses is the part that gives you the truest vision, and it should be directly in front of your eyes.
To determine how to place the lenses in your frames so the optical center is customized for your eyes, the eyeglasses lab needs to know the distance between your pupils, or PD.

because of the pressure of the sides of the eyeglasses. Like mine,my eyeglasses push down my ears that makes my ear a little look bigger whenever i use my eyeglasses. Will the size of my ears change or become bigger or it is impossible. I don't want to have big ears.=/ please help me and gather informations. Thanks in advance

Trust me, your ears are not getting bigger.

How long have you been wearing eyeglasses?

I know my first pair felt like they were pushing down on my ears, but that was cause of a very bad adjustment, and the lenses were actual glass, so they were very heavy. I know have polycarbonate because of the lighter weight.

Most frames should be getting more support because they pinch the side of the head. This is how Oakleys work. No ear hooks because they are fully supported by pinching the head.

Your ears contain lots of cartilage, so the likelihood of your ears changing size because of your glasses is unlikely.

If you are new to eyeglasses, or this is a new prescription, its often because your eyes and brain need to adjust to changes in perception. At certain distances it seems to magnify more and objects are larger than they actually are.

I remember looking the driveway with my first pair and trying to figure out why the pavement was only 2 feet away when I knew it was 3 feet. The brain has to adjust and figure out the correct depth perceptions.

My most recent prescription, last year, everything was off kilter again. The brain has to readjust. Its normal.

Also, your ears may appear to be bigger because the frames create a vertical separation from the top and bottom of your head. Its all about ratios of top portion, bottom portion and how much space the ear takes up.

I have a similar problem because I'm balding up front. The glasses make it look less because they make they create a visual break in my face. Without it, the bald spot looks larger. =)

I see measurements and I know what they are when they say 45 lens-20 bridge-135 temple but how do I find the exact measurements for my head?

Or is the difference between 52 and 53mm lens that big of a deal and should I just try a lot on and take whatever fits. When I'm trying them on will I notice a difference between 1mm?

The sizes are only really an ordering reference, and useful when cutting the Rx lenses to fit the frame.

Two frames reading 48/20 135 can fit totally differently on the face because of features and measurements not specified in those three numbers. Which is why it's pretty hopeless to order frames off the WWW untried.

Even the overall width of a frame isn't specified in that 45/20, since it only describes the widest point of the lenses, and the narrowest distance between them (Box system, not datum)

Try a lot on and and take what fits and suits, and don't worry about the numbers, except that the numbers on the one you like and the one you finally get should match!

Realistically it's probably not going to work out if you're picky. There's no 'right' size for all but there is a 'right' size for them to look how you want and there's no way to tell without trying them on. Some would say try it on in a store first but almost all the glasses sold online are closeouts & discontinued and not available at most stores. Frames are usually discontinued for a reason one of the most common being that they have a large number of them defective breaking for no reason. Also, they're usually the frames that don't look good on anyone that they couldn't sell. If it's a plastic frame it may also not rest on your nose possibly and could be very uncomfortable. I hate to break the news but try a store out, you may spend a little more but as long as you're not missing your rent because of it you'll be happier since you must wear them on your face all the time.
