I'm 44 years old and my doctor is strongly recommending the Restor lens for cataract lens replacement. From what I've been reading, I'm not so sure it is the best option. If I go with monofocal lenses, will I be able to achieve good reading and intermediate vision with contact lenses? (I currently wear monofocal contact lenses). My eyeglass prescription is -7 with Add Low for reading.
There's no right answer to that, as it's going to depend utterly on a individual's vision, history, needs and personality.
If you've adapted *well* to monovision in contacts, my suspicion is that you'd be happiest aiming to preserve that situation with the appropriate single vision implants.
On everything I've read so far, when my time comes (possibly only 5 years off) I'm going for single-vision implants aiming for -2.25 R&L, with the intention of wearing glasses for driving and television.
(Which I don't do, much, compared to the amount of reading and closework I do: a personal weighting to the decision.)
Instructional video on how to replace demo lenses on Zero G Eyewear frames with prescription lenses.
When I purchased my blended bifocal eyeglasses the optician offered a choice between lined bifocals and progressive lens bifocals. I was told that if I were unable to adapt to progressive lenses that they would replace them with lined bifocals at no extra cost- no refund either. I ended up purchasing blended bifocals, a different type of no line bifocal. I find I am unable to adapt to the blended lenses that cost 374.00 including the non-glare coating. I cannot do my job while wearing them (studio art professor) and feel unsafe on stairs and driving. When I tried to return them to the optician and set up an exchange for lined bifocals, I was told to come back in to their office next week to "discuss my options" when the lady in charge was there. I didn't get the feeling that this was going to go smoothly. I would have thought that any lens requiring adjustment would have an exchange policy. Now I am afraid I am going to be out a lot of money. Any ideas what the typical experience is with exchanging blended lens eyeglasses for a pair of lined bifocals? Do I have to repurchase the expensive non-glare coating? If so, I'll end up paying a bundle just for a common pair of lined bifocals. This is not a matter of taste- I think I will end up injured if I have to wear these blended no line bifocals; I can't function in them and am not able to wear them. Put plainly, I can't see with them on.

I have 2 old eyeglass frames.I really like them as both were made in Italy and were a bit pricey.I also happen to like the style. One pair are Brooks Brothers and the others look like John Lennon type but are sunglasses. I would like a recommendation as to who is the best by mail lens replacement company.
It would be nice if they were inexpensive as I am unemployed and have been for 11 months.
Here is a site I found. I don't know if it is good or not.

I recently got my new prescription for my eyeglasses, and I was wondering if anybody knew how much it would cost if I brought in my frames and only wanted new lenses put in? I got my eye exam done with my local optometrist and I currently have these frames I bought somewhere else with an old script in them.
I really wanted to get this done at Costco as I am already going there to pick up contact lenses. I don't need transitions, polarized, or bifocals by the way. If anyone knows from experience how much it might cost, please let me know. Thank you!

I bought a new pair of sunglasses for $18 and the second day I had them I dropped them on a parking lot. Now there is a scratch in the middle of the lens!
I am afraid that the polarized coating will be damaged if I take it to an eyeglass or a sunglasses store (and I don't want to pay more than needed). Also I would imagine that the auto plastic scratch polish will remove the polarized coating as well.
Can I buy replacement lenses that are inexpensive? If so, where can I get them? (I don't want to order them online or anything of that nature)
ANY SUGGESTIONS???
Try your nearest garbage can. I think your glasses are done.

If you are facing any problem with your eye glasses and want to shift to contact lens, then do not waste a single moment, consult a doctor and buy the contact lens that the doctor prescribes. Many spec users have a wrong idea that using and maintain a contact lens is too much difficult and time consuming. The fact is not totally untrue, it takes quite a little time to maintain a contact lens as the lens needs to be cleaned and disinfected almost every day. But, this little bit of trouble is nothing compared to the service that a contact lens provides. It has made protecting ones eye much easier. Contact lens is just a round piece of thin and light plastic placed on the cornea of human eyes. Since the lenses are very soft, people do not feel any irritation in their eyes using it.
Contact lenses are found in plenty in the market and in the online stores. The use of contact lens has reached a great limit in the past few years. Most people nowadays have discarded their shabby glass spectacles and have shifted to contact lenses. A contact lens is advantageous over glass specs in several ways. First disadvantage of a glass spec is that they are large and heavy having thick glasses which often proves to be very irritating to carry, whereas the lenses are feather light and soft, due to which people do not feel any irritation wearing it. Contact lenses can be used by almost anyone, even an infant can use a contact lens if the parents insert, remove and maintain the lens themselves. Kids and older people often find it very irritating wearing eye glasses, for them contact lens is the best alternative. It has been observed that kids often fall down while playing and break their eye glasses, which sometimes causes severe eye injuries. But, there is no chance of such accidents if they use contact lens. People who have to give a lot of physical labor at their work site also cannot wear glass specs as it is very uncomfortable to wear a heavy eye glass and work all day long.
