Eyeglasses Exam

I just got my eyes examined for contacts not too long ago. I wanted to go into a different vendor than my regular optometrist to buy glasses but wasn't sure if I would need another exam or not. Do I need to get another exam done for eyeglasses?

no monica u dont! when u get a contact exam, u get the perscription for both glasses and contacts. the only difference to my knowledge in the exams is the fitting of the lens... simply go to ur optometrist and ask for ur perscription or ask them to fax it to where ever u wanna go buy ur glasses at. it is illegal for them to not give u ur perscription

I live in Bolingbrook, IL and I am looking for an optometrist who accepts the medical card and I don't have to pay for anything.

Medical insurance doesn't usually cover eye exams or glasses. I would call your medical plan (the phone number should be on the card) and find out if they do. If they do cover eye exams and glasses (it's unlikely, but you never know for sure until you try), they can refer you to an optometrist.

I was looking forward to getting my eye exam for glasses with the next two weeks. I am allowing 1 every two years by my insurance. plus free glasses.

I caught pink from one of my kids 3 days ago and am getting over it now. It affects the outer lining of your eye which I would think would affect the exam.

You should wait until the infection is completely cleared up.

My husband and I both wear glasses and my son might need them as well. In your opinion which place should I go to. I do not have optical insurance so I have to pay cash...

Sorry I am not in the Michigan area, but some places do offer discounts for multiple pairs of glasses or family discounts. You will probably find those at an independent optician rather than a chain optical. Unfortunately, those $99.00 ads/coupons usually will cost you more unless you stick to exactly what they are trying to sell you at that price. Also, some medical insurances offer members discounts on eyewear even though it is not a covered benefit. In Ct, we have Connecticare, which is a regular medical insurance, but members get a 25 or 30% discount on their eyewear. Never hurts to ask. Hope this helps.

ok so what's the price range for an eye exam? and is there a specific test that the doctor has to do to find out if i need glasses? whats the price range for prescription eyeglasses?

You sound like you have never had your eyes examined before. You need an eye exam at least every 2-3 years if you don't wear glasses and yearly if you wear glasses. Eye exams are around $45 where I live and glasses range in price depending on what kind of lenses you get and what extras you get such as anti-scratch coating, anti-glare coating etc. The normal eye exam they will test your eye pressure, have you read letters on the wall to test your near and far vision and they will test your peripheral vision as well as your real close up vision etc.
