Do eyeglass salespeople work on comission?

Not the eye doctor, but the person who helps you pick out your glasses or you actually sit with about your frames, and lens. Do they get commission off the price you pay????

I really need to know a general answer on this!

No the don't. I have asked at 2 seperate places in the last 2 years. Since the people that "help" you pick out your glasses - tend to annoy me because they always seem to be RIGHT THERE. So I ask them to leave me alone while I look and only call them over if I need to find a different size. Something that I can't find myself. They like to pretend they know what looks good on you and sell you the most expensive stuff but they don't REALLY KNOW YOU. 3 Weeks ago my husband and I spent $1800 at Lens Crafters.

Has anyone worked finishing eyeglass lenses or Ophthalmology Tech?

I plan to go to school to be an ophthalmology technician but want an entry level position for some experience beforehand. I have NO experience in this field.

I'm applying to a lab that finishes eyeglass lenses. Is it boring/repetitive? Is there a lot of math involved? Would I learn useful skills for future positions as a tech? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
To clarify, I'm not choosing between these jobs- I'm trying to figure out if doing one job would help me in the future with the other job. Thanks!

Preferably you need to have "some" experience in the field before taking the exam.. that is, if you want to be certified.
When I went to school, I was working for an Ophthalmologist for only a few months. Then my boss at the time sponsored me so that I could go to the school for Ophthalmic medical personnel.
It is definitely worth it and very rewarding.
Check out JCAHPO's website. http://www.jcahpo.org/
That is how I got my Certification and found a school near me.
As for being a tech, yes there is math involved when you do refractions and such. Once you learn it, its easy. Try working for an Ophthalmologist and say that you are planning to go to school to learn to be a tech and you would like to accept an entry-level position.
Good luck!

Would the eyeglass frame from India work in America?

I recently bought a pair of eyeglasses frame from India but I live in America.

If I take the frame to my eye doctor in America, would they put my prescription in the frame and would they work here?

right now, the glasses have no prescription. i just bought the frame itself.

I think there's no different on the eyeglass frame in India and America so they should work on it.
Check for this video really interesting.

anyone know if the liquid eyeglass repair stuff works?

Nope! Nothing will get scratches out of eyeglass lenses. You can't even have an optical lag buff them out because that would change the curves of the lens, and it's the curves that make the prescription.

A liquid might "fill" the scratch, but the scratch will probably still be noticable and will probably still catch the light.

4.Get your frame measurements. There are a couple of good ways to do this. I liked my old frame style, so I knew that frames with similar measurements would likely end up being decent looking. If you're looking for something new, find a pair you like at the store and write down the measurements from the frame. In either case, the measurements are typically stamped inside the temple and/or on the bridge. 5.Find a frame. Hit the websites listed to the left and start browsing. You're looking for sizes as well as style here -- don't forget that! If the site offers a way to drill down to a temple size, for instance, use it! It will save you a ton of time. There is no reason to look at all of the 130mm temple-lengths when you need a 140mm. 6.Choose your lens options. I was oversold on "featherwates" and hi-index lenses for years. Depending on your prescription strength and the lens size for the frames you're looking at, you may be fine with the standard thickness lenses. I like anti-reflective...
