My eyeglasses were expensive, and I'd like to have them insured against loss/ damage. It doesn't make sense to add them to my homeowner's pplicy, since that has a $500 deductible.
Any ideas on how I can get my eyeglasses insured? Are there companies that offer stand-alone coverage for eyewear?

You might check with the outfit that you bought them from - although they usually only cover breakage, and not "oops I lost them".
Also, if you purchase them with a major credit card, the card company might offer you some protections.

I have a pair of eyeglasses with "130 J 173 16mm" stamped on the inside of one of the arms. What does this stand for?
i think u read it wrong,well 130 means the length of the arm ,173 sounds wrong to me is the width of the lenses area on each side ,but usually its between say 30-55 not 173 ,16mm means the width of the bridge zone for nose,these are the frame size

They say they are not since I supposedly signed a form releasing them of any responsibility. I was under morphine when I was admitted and don't know what I signed. My perscription eyeglasses were lost and the same glasses plus a new exam will cost over $450.00 . Do I stand a chance here?
It's not a criminal offense/police matter. The most you could try for is to civilly sue for the glasses........
I am a little bit neurotic and I cant stand that greasy fiil that usually remain on the surface. I have tried kleenex tissues and very soft closes to clean them out and the greasy film just wont go away.
Vodka. It'll help get rid of the grease but it won't leave you with a bad smell, depending on how much you use though. Pour a little on, rub around with your fingers, pour a little bit more on and then rinse with water, let them air dry or use a non-linty papertowel to dry them.
