Can someone rec a good sight for frames too?
Learn your size. The most important is the nose/bridge size. I wear a 18mm-19mm most of the time.
However, this is not always ultra accurate. Certain styles, such as plastic frames, have a smaller bridge size, but still fit larger sizes well.
Frames that have adjustable nose pads (most metal frames) can be adjusted to fit much better.
Overall, know your bridge (nose) size, as well as temple length (the arms that extend back to your ears). I am a big guy and look for temples that are 135mm+. A more petite person might look for temples that were closer to 125mm.
Most glasses are pretty forgiving in terms of fit--particularly those with adjustable nose bridges. I have ordered off the internet, and with a few quick adjustments, have has very good fits for very little money...!
www.framesdirect.com - FramesDirect.com CEO and founder Dr. Dhavid Cooper givess a brief explanation of how to determine your eyeglasses frame size.
I got my first pair(s) of glasses today and I chose frames that do not cover my entire field of vision. That is below my eyes to the sides and under etc.. is exposed, as I was told is normal and you will learn to not notice it. It is a much smaller field of vision than I am use to and am wondering if the dual focuses will damage my eyesight or focus over time? Should you choose the biggest lens possible for ideal vision health?
no , they don't deteriorate , but the larger they are the larger your clear field , if you felt tired by yours change them .

i have a a pair of Jeep glasses that i bought about 6 years ago for like 300 bucks. i am now looking for a new pair of frames online i read the size as this 42 ( theres a lil square shape) 23 '25'. i know what the first two numbers mean, but the '25' has me confused, i know my temple thing on another pair i have is 140, what does '25' mean?
Well, the first number is the milimeters of how wide your lense is in the horizontal measurement. The Square shape is just that it means "Box" or a 42 Box if we squared it up in a box. We sometimes call it a Box Size ( I am showing my age here....some newer opticians are gonna learn something here....) the number after the "Box is the Closest Distance between the lenses. We call it the DBL or the Distance between the lenses. That is simple enough. These are technical measurements and not really "sizing" measurements like you would buy clothes or jeans. a small lense sixe or a small dbl does not mean the frame is small. Sometime there can be a lot of frame there and the glasses can be pretty big. Sometimes there is little frame at all so they are actually smaller in fit. Does that make sense? The 145 is your temple length. Most read anywhere from 120-150 in mm in 5 mm incruments, from the start of the temple it's self to the end. Temples start in different places on a frame, so most of the time this is not a good measurement for fit either, as it is a technical measurement of the temple. The "25" might be a model number or a color number. Companies all have their own way of identifying color and models. Some do both or one or the other in numbers. Do I make any sense, or did I make it worse for you? I hope I helped!

Seeing as how they're thicker and more rigid, I would assume that they would smaller and that I should get a larger size, is this the case?
Thick frames: http://www.geocities.com/nycsadz/thick.j pg
Thin frames: http://www.geocities.com/nycsadz/thin.jp g
I wear size 54 in thin frames, I'm about to order a 55 in thick frames.
Well, a 54 mm in a thick plastic frame will look larger than a 54 mm metal frame , because both will have a 54 mm diameter lens, but the plastic frame will have the added thickness if the frame itself too.
The biggest problem you may have there is whether the plastic frame will fit your nose right. No adjustments can be done to the bridge on a plastic frame, so it has to fit perfect or you will never be comfortable with it.
Even with 38 years experience in the business, I wouldn't order a plastic frame for myself without having tried it on first.
The chances are no better than 50/50 that it will fit you correctly.
Can you find this out on the frames themselves or do you have to measure?
This tells you everything about eyeglass sizing. Good luck.

Women's eyeglass styles
Like men’s eyeglasses , women’s eyeglasses are also available in a wide range of sizes and shapes. Among various options, women should keep in mind what they want when shopping for personal eyeglasses. First is the basic style: delicate or bold, retro or modern, conservative or fashionable. Most optical stores have special sections for current fashion trends. The second factor is the period of your eyeglass wear, part-time or full-time. Color is also a very important element of eyeglasses. Since every individual has a warm or cool coloring, eyeglasses should match personal coloring and face shape.
The Vision Council has ever carried out a study, which revealed that women appreciate eyeglass look more than other factors such as comfort, fit and durability. It is reasonable because women are more aware of their appearance. However, eyeglasses require more consideration than simple look. In is obvious that comfort and fit are also quite important for women’s eyeglasses. There are some situations that some women may experience uncomfortable or unfit eyeglasses. Appealing frames may slide off your nose, which requires temples adjustment. Some frames are too narrow or wide that they do not fit your face. In this case, you must switch to another frame size. Uncomfortable nose pads also need proper adjustment.
