I'm looking to buy a new pair of eye glasses. I don't know if I should get a traditional eyeglasses with nose pads or a modern plastic frame.
Nose pads do allow for more adjustments. If the bridge of a plastic frame is too wide for your nose, the glasses will never stay in place like they should, they'll always slide down. Nose pads can be adjusted to fit the bridge of your nose so that they sit where they should without sliding. If a plastic frame is the right size though, then they should not slide, but they do stretch out over time and will need to be adjusted every few months.
There are so many different frames out there right now that you can find stylish frames with nosepads. Many brands have metal frames with nose pads that feature bright colors or thick metal so that they dont look so traditional.
Go to a few stores and look at the frame selection and have an optician help you pick out some plastic and some metal frames and you can decide which is more comfortable for you.

Is there a way to clead the nose pads, of two or three year old eyeglasses that have yellowed?
Jorst ... You local Wal-Mart or any decent optometry office will change these for you for about $2 or $3. If you smile and ask real nicely, if the sales assistant thinks you're really cute, you might even get them replaced for nothing. Believe me ... I sure as heck ain't cute ... never was ... but my Wal-Mart offered to change them for me for free twice. I guess I looked like a big spender, or something. Just kidding.

Silicone nose pads attach to the existing pads on your glasses
These pads are not replacements for pads on wire rimmed glasses
Provides protection from rubbing and irriation
For instance, I completely removed what holds the nosepads. The metal that the nose pad is attached to, I accidently broke it off when trying to adjust my eyeglasses. Is it possible for them to add another piece? I mean its completely gone. It's almost as if I bought my glasses with just a barrier.
you can take them to an optician, if they can fix them for you they will, they might be able to provide a temporary fix to you can order a new frame, so they are atleast functioning.
for future reference, they should also provide adjustments for free. i would take them there next time. then if they break it, thats their fault, not yours.

Its too tight. Is this possible? If so, how long would it take and how much would it cost?
Oh, that's no problem.
Just take them into your local eye doctor, and they'll be able to set them to your standards!
It will only take a few minutes as they adjust them, and they don't charge a thing!
I've had my fair share of bent nose pieces. :P
copper oxidation, use a q tip.

What is Eyeglass Prescription » Glasses Mall:Cheap Eyeglasses ...
An eyeglass prescription is a written order by an optometrist or ophthalmologist to an optician for eyeglasses . It specifies the refractive power to which the eyeglasses are to be made in order to correct blurred vision due to refractive errors, including myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. It is typically determined by a phoropter or an automated refractor.
1. Abbreviations and terms
Similar to medical prescriptions, eyeglass prescriptions are written on paper pads that frequently contain a number of different abbreviations and terms as the picture shown above:
D.V. is an abbreviation for “distance vision”. This specifies the part of the prescription designed primarily to improve far vision. In a bifocal lens, this generally indicates what is to be placed in the top segment. N.V. is an abbreviation for “near vision”. This may represent a single-vision lens prescription to improve near work, or...News
