My dad has been wearing the same glasses since 1989 and I need new ones or I cant play softball PLEASE HELP!! P.S im 12 years old

It is in the corner next to Doris meat market in the Lincoln Park West plaza they have glasses as low as 29.95 single vision. I am trying to make some cords / chains / necklaces that hold glasses. (you know, the chain that hangs around your neck that grips your glasses?) What are they called and where can I find them?

Should I get a few prescriptions and compare them?
My question is about the prescription. Should I go around and get different prescriptions to make sure they're the same?

If you want to get several prescriptions, you would have to pay for each eye test! It would waste a lot of your money and time. You could ask some of your friends who wear glasses which place they got them and if they were happy with them. Remember, you have to do your part to make sure the prescription is correct, when they test your eyes and start asking "is this better, or this" they are having to rely on you answering correctly to get the right prescription, so make sure you are paying attention and don't be afraid to ask them to repeat the switch between the two possibilities 2 or 3 times if necessary, particularly near the end of the test, where the differences will be quite slight.

If the glasses are correct and they are for nearsightedness, you should be able to see clearly pretty much immediately after putting them on. You should be able to wear them all day without geting headaches or eyestrain. Note that sometimes headaches are not the fault of the lenses, sometimes they get the frames so they clamp too hard, or they are crooked, etc so don't be afraid to go back and get it adjusted, you are paying for this you might as well make use of it. If you are farsighted, sometimes it will take you a while to get used to the glasses, so be patient.

I am doing some market research and was wondering if spectacles is a commonly used term in the UK, or do people in the UK just call what Americans "eyeglasses"..."glasses"?

I don't ever hear the term 'eyeglasses', the most common is 'glasses' and occasionally you hear 'spectacles' (this term is used most with older people)
