Eyeglass Company

rolled over on my glasses while sleeping and they are ruined. Eye shop says can't replace, gotta buy again, and need another eye exam. I say BS and try to find the company website to order new frames and put old lens in new frames. Can't find, anybody help.

i know there are review websites out there that tell would-be customers when to buy and when to stay away. but i have no idea what these sites are, and my searches just bring me to e-pinions.com. i know there are more comprehensive sites out there that are independent and not linked to shopping websites...does anyone know of any? thank you!

There are only so many things you can do to next year's spectacles to make them different.
Big/small, round/square lenses
Thin/thick rims in a range of materials or rimless.

In the 80's people were wearing great thick heavy lenses because big frames were fashionable.
Recently special "cramped" multifocal lenses have been designed because people want lenses too small to allow the mounting of conventional ones.

(I'm so old I remember flares the first time round.

I have checked out a few and you can get designer frames for about a third of what they cost in the shops.

Have you used an online co. that you could recommend?

Okay, where do I start? On-line glasses, though cheaper than buying them at an optical shop, can pose a few problems.

1.) Measurements need to be taken to properly process your glasses. Most on-line sites tell you how to do this, but it not accurate in any way. Most opticals WILL charge to take these measurements for you.

2.) What happens if the Rx was made wrong, or the doctor has to change the prescription? Will the on-line company remake them at no charge or are you left hanging in the wind?

3.) If the glasses were made wrong by the company or you got the wrong frame, will the company stand behind them?

Yes, you will pay more at a conventional optical shop, but you will be getting top notch goods and service.

I'm looking for basic, scratch proof eyeglass lenses with a reputable company/store. Any suggestions appreciated!

We always get new lenses put in our frames at SAMs Club. Something like $90 for composite lenses.
