Is it possible to have an eyeglass store/eye doctor put sunglass lenses in vintage eyeglass frames?

I need a new pair of sunglasses but can't find something I like. If I buy a pair of vintage eyeglass frames, is it possible for an eye doctor/Pearle Vision (or whatever) cut out custom sunglass lenses to fit? I don't need prescription lenses or anything.

If so, about how much would that cost?

As long as the frame is in good condition and as long as the frame is made for optical lenses then many places should do it. I would stay away from any old plastic vintage frames because they tend to deteriorate. Putting new lenses in them could damage the frames. As long as the optical has the appropriate equipment (most opticals have edging machines that trace the lens shape before it cuts them) then there should be no problems. The price will depend on what type of lenses you are getting . Whether they are prescription or Plano (non prescription) and if they are either tinted or polarized will make a difference in the price! You should expect to pay at least $60+ for new lenses! I would call around to see which opticals will do this for you!
Good luck!

    4) Somewhat taken aback, I had him look up my account because I was adamant that since it was not even a year since I purchased the frames and since EyeGlass World must have better customer service mechanisms than that (simply telling customers to go to Wal-Mart), so that he could see that indeed it was less than a year since I purchased these frames 5) While I might understand that frames go out of stock and are discontinued I cannot imagine that a store the size of EyeGlass World would not stock a variety of universal nosepads for its frames in order to uphold the service commitments of the frames that it sells--furthermore, I have a hard time imagining that EyeGlass World wants its acting floor managers blurting out to the random customer to simply "go to Wal-Mart." The result of this altogether negative experience is that, indeed, next time I will go to Wal-Mart: for eyeglasses, exam, and service rather than your retail chain. Furthermore, I have twittered my negative experience...
