Where is the best place to get eyeglasses with plastic lenses?

I am looking to get a pair of eyeglasses with just regular clear plastic lenses, that do not have any type of prescription to them... I just need a pair of glasses to wear inside because I have dry eyes and wearing glasses helps with that problem.. All the glasses I can find online look like safety glasses and not regular glasses... Do eyeglass places, like the ones in walmart, have eyeglasses without prescriptions in them... How much would I be looking at spending on these? Thanks

You can get them online for much cheaper than buying them from Lenscrafters and other stores like that... My mom got some Gucci ones from CoastalContacts.com. They have designer ones as well as some less expensive ones if you just want a cheap pair.

Does anyone know where i can have clear plastic demo lenses fitted to my plastic eyeglass frames?

I'm sure you can go to an optical shop (i.e - Wal Mart, Sears, Hakim Optical, Pearl Visions, etc) and ask them to make plastic lens for your frames.

If not, here are some alternative suggestions:

Option 1) Buy eyeglass models they display at any Optical Store. They are regular frames but with plastic lens.

Option 2) Put clear tape on the eyeglasses where the lens are supposed to be.

Option 3) Go to any party store and look for fake glasses. They must have many of those.

Option 4) Go to a photographer shop and ask if they sell glasses with fake lense. It's an old photographer's trick to use regular glasses with plastic lens in a photo, so there wouldn't be a glare on the real glasse lens, I'm sure they have them.

Good luck,

Hope this helps!

Clear Eyeglasses?

So in the past six months I've seen a lot of people in New York, Chicago and Toronto wearing eyeglasses with completely clear frames. They don't look like what you might be thinking... meaning they are not your traditional style glasses with the arms and such. The closest I can find like it is something like these:

http://www.abs-sunglasses.com/ProductDet ails.aspx?productID=495&categoryID=1 7

But these aren't even too close. They aren't smoked or anything, they are completely clear plastic and the arms are fat almost like one piece... but again it's not. Sorry I'm having a hard time describing them. I've been into two eyeglass shops and have tried to explain it and they look at me like I just fell off the turnip truck.

Anyway... I would love it if someone could point me to designers with frames that meet this description.

How to clean build-up from eyeglasses?

My eyeglasses are clear plastic frames that fully surround the lenses. In between the frames and lenses, dirt/hairs/other small particles are getting trapped and starting to build up (sorry if it sounds gross!). Because I bought my frames off of E-Bay, the optical that did my lenses cannot replace my frames if they get damaged while popping the lenses out. They say that my frames would have to be heated up slightly to pop out the lenses. If the frames crack during the heating, they are not responsible. Is there anything I can do, or do I have to wait until I need new lenses (I'm keeping the frames as long as possible cuz they're designer and I really like them!)?

Use an ultra-sonic jewelery cleaner, sometimes they sell it as a denture cleaner. You put in some cleaning solution and the glasses and it just vibrates all the gunk out. They sell them in all the drug stores and K-Mart, Wal-mart, etc for around $10. It won't get it all out, but it will help.

  • British Government Considers Mandating Plastic Pint Glasses ...

Trying to control stabbings by banning knives that have a point on the end was bad enough.  But this is really going too far.

The BBC reported recently that the British Home Office is seeking a new design for pint glasses that it hopes may reduce the number of incidents in which people attack each other with pint glasses.  According to official statistics, 5,500 people are attacked with glasses and bottles every year in England and Wales.  (Probably more in Scotland, though maybe they just use swords.)  This public safety emergency has spurred the government into action, seeking a design that can't be used as a weapon.

Designers say they are considering two basic approaches: (1) plastic, or (2) something else.  First, glasses could be made from plastic, or could be coated with it so that the glass would not shatter into sharp pieces if broken.  Second, "[w]e could do something more radical," said one designer, "by looking at the whole shape and substance of the pint - we could come up with something that is completely different [from] glass."  Seems a lot like the first approach, and it wasn't clear what he had in mind.  But he continued: "Remember that years ago people used to drink out of pewter tankards.  It could be quite a significant paradigm shift."  That's a great idea - I'd much rather be clubbed to death with a pewter tankard.
