whats the best way to fix a scratched eyeglass lens without buying any products?

i have a somewhat deep scratch on my eyeglass lens and i do not want to buy any products to repair it, but i need a fix for it untill i get contact lenses. any sugestions?

YOU CAN KEEP YOUR SCRATCHED LENSES LOOKING CLEAR ON A TEMPORARY BASIS BUT, AS OFTEN AS YOU NEED TOO BY USING PLEDGE FURNITURE POLISH.
FIRST CLEAN YOUR GLASSES WITH WARN SUDSY WATER AND DRY WITH SOFT CLOTH.
THEN, APPLY PLEDGE ON TO LENS AND WIPE DRY WITH SOFT CLOTH.
YOU CAN REPEAT THIS AS OFTEN AS YOU NEED TOO.
THE WAX FILLS IN THE SCRATCHES AND ELIMINATES THE GLARE UNTIL THE WAX WEARS OFF, BUT, IT'S EASY ENOUGH TO DO OVER AND OVER. AND THEN YOU WILL:
SEE CLEARLY NOW, THE RAIN IS GONE!!

What is the best eyeglass lens and frame for -13 prescription (severe nearsighted)?

I have been looking for the best thinnest lens possible for my -13 prescription. So far, I have heard about Zeiss and Nikon make one of the best lenses. Also, I am looking for the perfect frame for my prescription, taking in consideration of a very wide width face and flat nose :(. Help please!

Zeiss does a 1.9 lantal lens. its glass so gives you the thinnest finish possible - but downside is obvious issues with safety and the lens is heavier too due to it being a denser material. the best lens to go for would be a 1.74 plastic. its high index and the thinnest plastic available. as its plastic it wont be as heavy.

Go for a plastic frame. this will help with the cosmesis as it will hide most of the edge thickness. In a metal frame you will be able to see the edges of the lens hanging over in front and behind. Also something with thick arms and sides will help to hide the wdge thickness of your lenses.

the smaller the frame the thinner the lenses will be at the edges as most of the thickness in your prescription is on the outer edges

What are the best eyeglass lenses that change to dark shade ?

Photochromic,Transitions,Glass ,Plastic .I dont want heavy glass and one that change CLEAREST indoor and VERY DARK outside.WHich is best. Do they already have UV protection, ANTI-glare protection and scratch protection or do you pay extra for each protection. Can anyone simplfy this and help me get whay IM looking for and not pay extra for features that are already on the lens. Also what is CRISAN.

At this time, Transitions is the best you can get...gets to 87% sunglass tint in 37 seconds. Also will go 98% clear indoors. Transitions has built in UV protection and is scratch coated. Anti-reflective coating is optional.

I think the "crisan" you're talking about is "Crizal", which is a brand of anti-reflective coating. Very good coating, gives you a two year scratch guarantee.

If anybody charges you for UV or scratch protection on Transitions lenses, run, don't walk out of the place. Transitions is sold as is. Only pay for the anti-reflective coat, if you want it.

How To Reinsert Eyeglass Lens Into Glass Frame?

My right lens popped out of my eyeglass frame along with the screw (I was able to find the screw). Anyways i'm having a hard time trying to reinsert the lens. I can't seem to line up the lens correctly with the edges of the frame. the lens is thick, i guess cause i have Astigmastism.

There should be a ridge around the outside edge of the lens, this should fit the groove around the inside edge of the frame, the allignment is kind of tricky because the wire frame is kind of springy and typically keeps popping apart when trying to get the lens back in.

Maybe try putting something like a pin through the two screw holes so it sticks out about 1/2 inch on each side, then take a rubberband and wrap it several times around between the pin and frame to help hold the frame ends together but allow it to force open a little as you wedge the lens in place. Now slip the lens in and work your way around the edge and get the groove lined up all the way around. Once it is in correct position, the two metal things where the screw goes should be pretty close together. At this point, hold the frame securely around the lens, pull the pin out and remove the rubber band (if it doesn't fly off on its own) get the screw into the tiny hole and get it started before the whole mess comes apart again.

Note: it is possible that the screw thread is stripped and that is why it came out in the first place. If this is the case, sometimes you can make a temporary repair by running a piece of wire through the screw holes, bending it around and twisting to hold everything together, cut off the excess and carefully fold the twisted part over.

  • Buy Cheap

  • How Much Should One Expect to Pay For a Pair of Prescription ...

Prescription glasses are not a cheap item, no matter how you look at it. When you buy glasses, you have to pay both for lenses and frames, not to mention the cost of the exam itself. If you need glasses, knowing how much to expect to pay ahead of time is very helpful.

The cost of the frames for your prescription glasses varies tremendously from pair to pair. Designer frames can cost several hundred dollars. For that price you get designer frames that would be the envy of any Hollywood star. You can also buy more affordable frames at discount prices for around $50 or less. Online merchants make it possible to get frames for even less, sometimes close to $20.

There are some special features that can increase the cost of frames. For instance, glasses frames made out of a titanium-based allow known as Flexon are able to return to their normal shape after being damaged. These are great for people who work in high-impact jobs or play sports on a regular basis, but they also cost more. This lightweight, corrosion-resistant material is very popular, making it very popular, and therefore more expensive.
