A way to prevent anti-glare eyeglasses from smudging so much?

Hello all,

I recently purchased a pair of glasses that were (at the insistence of my eye doctor) coated in an anti-glare substance. I know that I need the anti-glare because of the amount of time I spend on a computer but they tend to smudge very easily. I notice myself cleaning them just about every ten minutes. It's driving me nuts.

Does anyone know of any way to make it so that they still have the anti-glare but are not smudging so often??

Thanks

Depending on where you purchased the glasses..I would check back with them and see if they offer the PLATINUM NO-GLARE...this No Glare has a Hydrophobic finish that reduces smudges. It also repels water..which makes them a lot more easier to clean. They also stay cleaner longer.

If they carry it, there may be a price difference. But if you purchased them in the last month or so, they should have some kind of exchange policy where you just pay the difference.

They only other thing I have noticed is cleaning with rubbing alcohol..the 70% strength. It tends to clean a little better than the eyeglass cleaner sold in Optical shops. Also always use 100% cotton cloth..never paper towels!

Eyeglasses anti glare film pealing/bubbling. What chemical can I use to get it off?

My expensive eyeglasses were made with the application of some antiglare film that is partially pealing off and bubbling. How can I remove all of it? TY!

you really cant. whatever chemical or abrasive you use to attempt, will likely damage the surface of the lens underneath. SOMEtime SOME opticals can send it off to be professionally removed, but even then they wont guarantee the condition of the lens when it returns. they'll even make you sign a waiver.

best bet is to replace the lens

How effective are Anti-Glare eyeglasses?

My middle aged parents are facing difficulty driving at night. Do you think anti glare specs can help cut down the stunning effect of the other vehicles' headlights?

I have anti-glare coating on my eyeglasses. Can it be removed?

The anti-glare coating on my eyeglasses is starting to come off unevenly, I guess from rubbing too hard with the cleaning cloth. It is affecting the quality of my vision. Can I remove the coating without damaging the lens? The lens is plastic, not glass

Depends on how old they are. Sometimes when you remove and anti reflective coating it "bleeds" into scratches. It's best to take them to the optician to decide. It is possible, yes ....but it might not be the best decision.

How can you tell if your anti-glare for your eyeglasses came off?

Yes you can, it will look like the surface of your lens is not smooth and clear anymore. The anti glare coating normally breaks down in patches and so you will notice that there are mottled areas on your lens or patches with look irregular when you hold the lens up under light

  • Apple Adds Antiglare Option for Some MacBook Pros - Gadgetwise ...

Did Apple make a glaring error when it introduced some newer MacBook Pro models without antiglare displays?

Apparently so, since the company has announced it will offer a matte screen as an option to the glossy glass LCD on the 15-inch Pro models. But it costs $50 to order the matte finish.

The antiglare option has also been available for the 17-inch Pro since the laptop’s introduction earlier this year. Glass remains the only choice on the 13-inch MacBooks and the MacBook Air.

Why matte? Why glossy? There are pros and cons for both. Glossy screens, with their mirrorl ike finish, reflect ambient light and add glare to the visuals. But they invariably provide higher contrast out of the box, and most users find the colors more rich and stark. Glass screens look better than matte screens in the off position, for my money. And touch-screen displays are almost always glossy.

Matte displays can appear fuzzy to fussy users, but over the long term they seem to offer less fatigue, especially in bright environments. Designers, graphic artists and engineers say they prefer matte for intensive work.
