39 Eyeglasses

I am happy with my current lense strength in my eyeglasses. I just want to get a different style frame. I would like give them my existing eyeglasses and i would pick out a new frame. I was able to do this in the past, and now i can't find a store that would do it.
An eye exam would just give me thicker lenses and my eyeballs
would become lazier over the years and the lenses would become thicker and thicker.

If your state licenses Opticians, (not to be confused with Optometrists or Ophthalmologists, which are doctors) one of them can simply read the prescription off your current lenses and make you a copy. You do not require a prescription to do this, and it is perfectly legal.

They are not allowed to change the prescription, only make an exact copy of power your lenses currently are. This is done with a machine called a refractometer. Not all states allow this, so simply go into a big chain store at the mall like Pearlevision or Lenscrafters, and they will be able to tell you if its possible.

Whenever I wear my eyeglasses, I always get acne where the plastic "bridges" of my glasses touch my nose. Is there any way to prevent this or stop it from happening? The only solution that worked fairly well was putting a folded tissue between my nose and my glasses, but it isn't really comfortable to wear (and it looks absolutely ridiculuous). I need some help. ) :

Clean the plastic bridges with rubbing alcohol every morning and night to kill the bacteria.

Some other solutions for acne are as follows...

The tricky part about acne is that the problem can actually become worse if you overmedicate. That's because acne medication can overdry the skin, causing a boost in your skin's Sebum (oil) production. This results in...you guessed it - more acne.

So what's the long term solution? Find gentler solutions or even natural acne cures that won't shock your body into more breakouts. Here's what I recommend:

- Use a glycerin based facewash. Glycerin is gentler and will balance the ph levels in your skin.
- For body acne, try using an antibacterial soap to slowly dry out the skin. If your skin gets too dry, switch to a moisterizing soap like Dove to counterbalance the effect.
- Wash your face only 2 times a day max and gently pat dry with a towel.
- Use a gentle face moisterizer if the glycerin based face wash drys you out too much.
- Eat almonds, fiber, drink lots of water and avoid excess sugar intake.
- If acne medication isn't working or causing new breakouts, try applying egg whites to the pimples at night before bed. This natural remedy works great.
- One of my favorite natural skin conditioners is wearing an "oatmeal mask". The oatmeal with smooth your skin while simultaneously absorb toxins and oils from your pores.
- Lemon juice also dries up pimples and kills any bacteria in the infection.

I have a 7 year old pair of eyeglasses that work fine but I want to update the style. I don't know what my prescription is and don't need another eye exam so can the Optometrist find my prescription just using my glasses or ?
I have a 7 year old pair of eyeglasses that are working fine (correct prescription verified at an eye exam 1 year ago) but I want to get a newer style of glasses. I don't know my prescription but can the optometrist figure it out without another eye exam? Thanks.

I'm guessing you don't have the original receipt from when you had them made, but that would be one way to find out.
The optometrist can find out by just taking a few measurements from your glasses with a pair of calipers. That shouldn't be a problem. By the way, you should have an eye exam about every two years.

I do not wear my eyeglasses that often. I only wear it at home. I usually wear contact lens. The owner of the eyeglassess persuaded me to get anti-reflective glasses instead of the normal one. I ended up pay CA$30 extra. Is it worth to pay more? I still feel very uncomfortable paying the extra when I think i don't need it.
honestly, I can't notice the difference when I am wearing them. I can only see the difference wen someone else wearing it or I just look at the glasses with my naked eyes.

Actually, there are several advantages, including better night vision and less reflection on the lenses for anyone looking your way. I always get anti-reflective lenses.

I've already bought the eyeglasses but the barrier doesn't rest on my nose because I have a flat one. I would like to take it back for them to make the barrier bigger. Is that possible?

What is a barrier ?

If they are metal frames with nose pads, they can be adjusted.

If they are a plastic frame, with a solid bridge, then not much can be done.
