Can you translate an eyeglass prescription into the 20/20 scale?
eyes goin' crazy

My eyeglass prescription is -16.00. This is so nearsighted that my eye doctors never use the good old 20/20 system. I was wondering how I measure up?

I read online that this is close to 1/200 (not on the 20/20 scale)

My right sphere is -3.25, cylinder is -2.25, and axis is 004.
My left sphere is -3.25, cylinder is -2.00, and axis is 004.

how do you find out what your 20/20 eyesite is with your eyeglass perscription?

i went to the eye doctor today and i have the perscription but how do i find out what my eyesite is { like 20/20 or what i know it is not 20/20 but how do i know what it is?}

In order to write your prescription for glasses, your eye doctor had to have you read different lines of the eye chart. The best line (smallest line of letters) you could read before he/she put lenses in front of your eyes is your UNCORRECTED visual acuity (eg. 20/60). The best you could read with the best combination of lenses in front of your eye is your (best) corrected visual acuity (hopefully 20/20 or better). That information is in your chart at your doctor's office. Just call them, and they should be able to give it to you.

How to convert eyeglasses number into eyesight 20/20?

Ok, so say the
right eye is -4.25 and
the left eye is -1.25
does anyone know how to convert that in to eyesight with the number over 20?
all, i know that since its a negative number its for nearsightness?
i wear glasses at home and contacts out side. And i wear them most of the time like 90% of the day.

Some people say it's not possible to translate it. Others would estimate it at around 20/400 and 20/70. Is that your prescription? Do you wear glasses full time? That's a big difference between your eyes.

Is there a way to determine your UNCORRECTED VISION (eg. 20/50 or whatever) from an eyeglass prescription?

In other words, if I have a current eyeglass prescription can I tell from that what my "UNCORRECTED VISION" reading would be? Thank you for your help!

The answer to your question is NO.
The ONLY way to know what your uncorrected vision is when you get yours eyes tested and you read the chart without your glasses.
Generally your Dr already knows you need glasses so when he tests your eyes they will usually test you with your current pair of glasses on to see if that prescription is helping you in the way they should. If those glasses aren't helping you to see at your maximum potiential then he does the eye testing to see what your new prescription should be.
If infact you were tested at the Dr's office without your glasses then you can call the Dr office and see what that vision was.
If your prescription for your glasses is something like a +9.00 Diopters I can tell you that your vision is crap but to know exactlly what you are seeing as far as 20/100 or 20/50 etc,no one could tell.

  • Woman mugged on busy Main Street in Hyannis

HYANNIS — A woman walking on Main Street was pulled down and dragged on the ground by a man trying to steal her purse Monday in broad daylight, according to the police and the victim.

"I want people to know what happened so they can be more careful," the Marstons Mills woman told the Times yesterday.

The woman said she was walking from the Barnstable Town Hall parking lot on the walkway between the Hyannis Post Office and the John F. Kennedy Museum, when she felt a tug on her purse.

She turned to see a young man pulling her purse. He pulled harder, causing her to fall face first on the ground. He dragged her as she held on and began to scream.

It was about 3:30 p.m. and Main Street was crowded, she said.

Two men outside the post office heard the woman's screams and began to come toward the assault, which left the mugging victim with her shirt torn, and knees, arms and eyeglasses scraped.

Hitachi develops eyeglass-free 3-D projection system

No pictures for this yet, but Hitachi has reportedly developed a 3D projection system that allows viewers to watch 3D images from any angle, and perhaps more importantly, without the need for eyeglasses. While the first feature makes sure a group of people can see 3D images at the same time on a single screen, I am aware the second one isn’t the first of its kind for a 3D system.

Hitachi says another strong point of its technology is the high resolution of the 3D images produced. The company claims the quality is comparable to analog broadcasts, meaning the resolution is higher than in other eyeglass-free 3D systems developed so far.

The Hitachi system consists of 16 projectors that project images from different angles to a transparent sheet that’s 20 x 23cm in size and consists of 300,000 lenses. 3D images “floating” in front of the sheet are produced by letting the light from the projectors pass through the lenses.
